    Hi All,

My Dad is Black Caribbean but I am totally white with dark hair. Do you think it would definately be unsuitable, or has anybody else in similar situation used it sucessfully? So tempted. Have had IPL in a salon before and that was fine.

I bought my online with boots and took it back to a store branch who swapped it straight away with no hassle. My kept going onto standby quicker that what I thought it shouldhave done. Then eventually both the lights were flashing alternating the flashes, apparently this alternative flashing means it's faulty.

Defo take it back to the branch.

I have returned mine after a call from their customer service team - they were very accommodating and said I could either hold on to it to use later after trying to conceive, or return now - so I chose the latter. They made it quite plain that using doing pregnancy was an absolute no-no, so I'm not prepared to chance it.

10/10 for their customer service team though!
  • You can get 10% discount from the over 60s club. I asked my mum to get mine with an extra Skin Gel and the total price was £222.68

11 weeks on chin and under chin area. A few stubborn hairs like 5-10 on under chin but easily 80% better than it was so I'm so pleased with this. As for my chin and i'm so disappointed and this area has got worse :( Any one have any idea why it hasn't worked here? I'm guessing its because I shave daily? 1 day I used a wet razor and keep at it until its baby smooth and the next day I use my electric razor.
Have completed my 5th treatment on my armpits and around nipple area. Some lovely patches under my armpits now and nipple area it actually almost already hair free!Just a few stragglers. So as you can see for me i'm having some very extreme varieties of success!

Before I bought mine I went on a thorough search round the internet about IPL for hair removal in general and did read on one site that it can actually stimulate new hairs to grow on the chin, so can make it worse to start with. Of course I now can't find the website again to point you at it!
Several places said the face often takes a lot more treatments to be effective and that it needs doing more often than the body.
I've done far fewer treatments but its already obvious that my bikini line will be hair free a VERY long time before my chin. I'm becoming very tempted to do my chin twice a week!

I wondered about a few practical aspects I'm having issues with and how others have got round them (or of course if its just me!)

Bikini line - I've pretty much left this alone for years with nothing more than a minor trim as anything else gives me monster spots from ingrowing hairs. Before the first treatment I shaved and then thoroughly regretted it - itchy! When I then came to do it again I had spots. The instructions say not to do with acne but what about the odd spot? As they are red I wonder if I should leave them be or dot on some white?

Nipples - how on earth do you cover them? I tried cutting out circular labels but, apart from the fact my blue peter skills are rubbish, even when I got a circle the right sort of size it really didn't work as they aren't flat. I've got a white nail pencil (couldn't find an eyeliner) but I could be here for weeks colouring in so I resorted to white eyeshadow mixed with vaseline. It sort of worked but it was very messy. I'm actually wondering about getting some of that complete sunscreen white cream - like surfers wear on their noses - although I haven't found anywhere to buy it yet. What does anyone else do?

Armpits - I haven't even tried these yet as the contortions to get to the bits I have done are bad enough. Do you all do your own or get some helpful person to do it for you?

I must say one unexpected bonus is the amusement the process is giving my other half - me wandering round the house half naked with blobs of various white goo tests, followed by lots of ouchy squeaks is giving him a great deal of entertainment.

    Hi Hanspan,

I personally would leave any spots alone and just work round them and carry on treating them once they are better.

With my underarm I have been the opposite arm to the one I am treating, it is a bit uncomfortable having to hold one arm up but I don't find it too difficult!

I haven't used mine for a couple of weeks as I have been really busy and just can't be bothered when I get in, I'm sure under arm hair is getting thicker.

Thank you very very much for this. Right ok I shall start doing this now twice a week. I'm getting married in September and desperately want to be rid of this face hair. So it does actually work then? It just takes a long time?
