Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Monday 2 March 2009. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!
Morning Everyone! It's Monday again......
How are you all today? I'm up early doing some last minute revision for today - thought it was more productive than lying in bed sending myself daft by not being able to answer "questions" that were going through my head. This all seemed like a good idea a couple of years ago, but it's going to be a busy year for me... (I'm doing a distance learning course for an MSc in Environmental Health and combining it with working full time  )
Anyway, I should be grateful that I've got a job given the current economic climate, so sorry for moaning.
I can hear the rain against the window here and the wind's picked up too, so might get wet taking the dog out this morning. DH is on his early shift this week, so he'll be taking her out at the end of the day.
I've not had much chance to OS over the weekend, apart from having NSDs! Lunch yesterday was soup and toasted sarnies and tea was salad and some goodies from Lidl that DH got when he was away mid-Feb. Not sure what today will bring, soup and a roll at lunchtime and dinner will be a complete surprise! Hoping to do some bulk cooking and baking tomorrow evening, as I'm away again at the end of the week. DH has put in a request for my Carrot & coconut cake .
Got a load of towels in the washing machine, but I think I'll have to hang them inside, as the forecast for here today is sunshine and frequent showers.
Have a good day everyone and hugs all round to those that need them just now :grouphug:

Morning, Nesssie and all that follow. Another Monday morning here, and another trip to work. Hoping it goes quite quick today, as I'm anxious to get home. We had a lovely chilli last night, and it's always better on the second day. Today it'll be a pasta bake though - mmm!
Woke up (mainly thanks to my alarm clock) but also with the racetrack backgrounds from the computer game OH was playing last night going through my head - quite a strange way to wake up! Anyway, the day has begun and while there isn't much OSness to be done, I shall strive to not buy from the little shop for something while I'm waiting for the bus, and I won't go into town at lunchtime so I can't spend money! Or at least try to! Realised I need to shift a few pounds for the wedding though, so could have done with the exercise - typical. Ah, well. The nights will soon be lighter so going for a long walk will be an option again.
Hope everyone has a good day, and (((hugs))) to those that need them.

Hi Nesssie - no rain here, but we are at opposite ends of the country!
Hope everyone had a good weekend. I haven't been around much due to packing and sorting out ready for the move, and fitting in the cooking and cleaning at the same time. I wish I could put that bit on hold until we move!
Dinner tonight is bubble-and-squeak to use up the rest of the lovely sweetheart cabbage we had with yesterday's roast. We'll have sausages and beans with it, one our favourite meals. I usually do puddings but, lately, these have either been a piece of fruit or, as yesterday, a healthy Wagon Wheel!
I've been on the Living Abroad thread which Donny-gal directed me to; it's great. I have already been given great advice and links to sites that will be very helpful.
I can hear the birds outside singing their hearts out - one of the reasons I love to wake up early, and, when I first woke up at around 5 o'clock, I could hear the frogs in the pond - the've been having an orgy all week and have been very noisy! There must be around fifty frogs there at the moment!
Anyway, time for another cuppa. Hope everyone has a lovely day and lots of (((hugs))) to those in need.

Morning everyone:wave:
I've woken with the lark this morning for some reason. Aw well, it'll lengthen the day for me, so I should get more done.
I don't have any wo*k coming my way today but I'm happy to do some things in the house. Obviously I'll be scanning the internet to see what I can apply for, but this is a great opportunity to get on top of my housewo*k. It might even be an opportunity to join the grocery challenge (though I don't think I'll actually appear in person on that thread just yet).
Does anybody know anything about dream interpretation? My nocturnal wanderings were of me being surrounded by people who were megaslim and who were exceptionally tall - or to put it another way by me being v.short and v.fat compared to everyone else. I was unable to get through gaps others had no bother with and was looking at people's knees and everyone had to look down to me to speak. Sorry, I'll not babble on with this, other peoples' dreams can be a bit zzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Fingers Xed for a bit of sunshine today as I have a load of sheets ready to go onto the line, and have at least two more loads of washing to be done. :eek:to all the ensuing ironing though.
Have a fabulous Monday everyone.

Morning all,
Its frosty here today, just as we thought spring was on its way, its meant to be cold all week.
Off to work today, busy at the moment which is good as it makes the time fly past. Ribs for tea tonight, with sticky sauce rice and peas, I will pop home at lunch time and put them in the sc.
Yogurt and fruit for breakfast for me, dd has a bagel and fruit, OH does not have breakfast , we are all taking a hm lunch box. Yesterday I made 24 small coconut and raisin cakes, and a banana loaf with added coconut, sent half home for my dad, as their oven is broken, and mum is unable to bake at the moment.
Chrisca, hugs to your little gdd, I hope she improves today, poor little love xx
ISOM, the cake looks delish well done xx
Have good days all xx
Edited to add Happy Birthday to Dazi :bdaycake: , come back and post, we miss you xx0 -
Good morning everyone
and big, big, (((hugs))) to those who are down or feeling under the weather.
Just a rushed 'pop in' as I'm getting ready for work.
Lunch today is HM soup, some HM bread and a range of fruit. OH gets a HM muffin in addition to these. Dinner is a repeat of last night as I made a double batch. Chicken in tomato and tarrgon with broccoli and boiled potatoes. Dessert is jelly, tinned fruit and cold custard (doing a mini storecupboard challenge here).
Have a lovely OS day everyoneEnjoying an MSE OS life0 -
Morning all,
looks beautiful out the window this morningBack to placement today, I seem to be getting less confident about my ability as time goes on....
So lunch to get out of the fridge, I have leftover pork/onion/apple & pasta to take with me. Tonight will be king prawn risotto. Not much other OS stuff going on I'm afraid.
Happy Birthday Dazi too - have a great day (if you're reading/llurking!)
Nessie, I know the feeling of not being able to stop the brain working, sometimes you just have to go with the flow...
Snowy, no idea about the interpretation bit, but the dream sounds fascinating, I'll try & catch up later to see if anyone had any idea?!
Kathy, lol at the frog orgy!!!!!
((((((hugs))))))) for all needing them, have a good day all. xLive your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)0 -

Have tesco delivery this morning which is much needed - couldnt do my baking yesterday as had run out of eggs, local shop doesnt do free range so hopefully will have time this afternoon.
Leftover chicken cooked with rice tonight for dinner hopefully fudge brownies for dessert.

Morning all
Bright & crisp here this morning.
A leisurely start for me today as I'm on a training course today & don't have to leave til 8, typically hubby has a days work today so we were up before 6.
Snowey, the nearest I could find in my dream dictionary, being smaller than everyone else means 'returning to a childlike state, being fat, has a choice of 2 meanings, it could be 'living off the fat of the land, or being aware of needing to lose weight' not a lot of help is it, sorry about that.
ISOM, the cakes looked yummy, is the recipe on here somewhere? I have sprouting seeds all over the kitchen, I could do with a starter to feed too.
WS, I'll listen out for you, lol.
Breakfast - porridge
Lunch - hummus, toms, cheese & biscuits.
Tea - sausage & mash.
I hope everyone has a good day.
Hugs Hester
