I hope you do it :T

  • I have been an active member of freecyce for quite a few months now but have felt over the past 6-weeks or so that since the group has got bigger we are getting more and more wanted ad's for ridiculous things, like cars, trailers etc etc. Also, it seems that no matter what I advertise at the moment I am getting the same people time and again demanding things, and quite random things too!!! I sniff a dealer..... This past 2 weekends I have had a mass clearout of my loft and shed and have advertised a hell of a lot of stuff and have been let down time and time again by the same people not turning up for things, sending nasty emails stating that they are being ignored by me, although I reply to each and every person. After threatening to put the items in the bin over the weekend I have been inundated with emails from people saying they promise to come and collect and that they are "desperate" for things , then when I say ok, they are yours, when can you come, they never reply....it is so maddening when you are giving away things that would cost a lot of money to buy and people just dont other to get back in touch .
One good thing to come out of the weekend tho, I had a man come for a few things that had had a few things off me before and he runs a church group and he said I was the giveaway queen and that the church have really appreciated everything they have received off me!!! That sort of makes up for all the other losers!!!!!!!!!
    Sorry for the rant tho.....

I know exactly what u mean

Someone on the Birmingham one today was hoping to get a widescreen tv:rolleyes:

and another hopeful soul was looking for an Apple G4 monitor

I have noticed a lot of people do not reply (I know from experience that you get far too many requests for the stuff) but i do get a little annoyed with people not bothering to reply when you email them and say you can have it if u want it

Think the best offer that i have seen so far was for a brand new Sony laptop
Debt of £6300 cleared in 5 years, now ZERO

By way of light relief this is an excerpt from a genuine post on freecycle this week.

    OFFER: chemical loo, stools

    Hi

I have a chemical camping loo (for caravan/camper) on offer.

Also 6 wooden stools, dark varnish, traditional type.
  • :rotfl:

It wouldn't even have made it THAT much better if the freecycler had specified wooden stools......
Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).
  • There is a new site in a forum style being made at http://novogate.com/exco/index.php?boardid=3159

currently covers London & surrounding, but will be adding more sections as & when.

    Lol that's so funny.

Re. expensive items, it is true that all sorts of things get given away. A few months ago on london freecycle a lady in Kensington posted who needed to clear her house before an imminent move abroad, she was offering almost new habitat sofas, a flat screen tv, a solid oak king sized bed, gaggia cofee maker, designer clothes, etc etc.
Oh I so wished I had a car when i saw that offer!
