Well so far it is a definite 2 weeks in Mexico in November, just looking presently to choose our favourite resort and hotel.
February, possibly a week in Jamaica unless we can find 10 days.
Both holidays are to be AI0 -

Anyone been to this resort? If anyone has been I would appreciate advice.
Might risk a week there in February.0 -
Thanks to everyone for the Mexico help so far, and I am having trouble deciding, but some great suggestions, thanks.
The Jamaica trip is my wifes idea, she likes the look of the Royal Decameron.... Help.0 -

Funnily enough, was looking at the pics and reviews of this on Trip Advisor yesterday. Looks good enough for a budget-ish option in Jamaica, personally I would not want to fly all that way for a week (although I appreciate you have said you will do 10 days)
Have you thought about Egypt (perhaps Luxor rather than the Red Sea), Gambia or Cape Verde for hot weather options that little bit closer?0 -

Yes it is the cheapest, but the reviews of the people etc are good.
Cape verde I did last year, I would go again.
Have thought about Egypt but need real personal reviews from those who have been there.
I want good food and friendly staff. Nothing more.0 -
I have been to Egypt lots of time and love it but my personal taste may not be the same as yours - if it's good food then maybe Egypt is not the place as lots of people love Egypt but have problems with the food
If you still fancy going then I can highly recommended the Intercontinental in Taba, if you fancy going somewhere with sites then Luxor would be a good base and there are lots of good hotels there, the other option would be a nile cruise, they are wonderful and chilled0 -

We went to Royal Decameron in July 2004 brilliant holiday, so relaxing, accomodation was great, had cottage which slept 4, double bedroom with a/c and lounge with mezzamine level with 2 single beds, and only 50yds from beach. The food was out of this world, breakfast was served in the main restaurant, also lunch was served here and it had all types of food or you could eat at the beach cafe which served burger, hot dogs, pizza etc. At night in main restaurant they had different theme nights, but plenty of choice for everyone (even for my fussy son who was 8 at the time) there is also 2 other restaurants on the complex one a Thai and the other a Cantonese, which you have to book in advance but there was no extra cost. The bars serve all international drinks beers etc, but they only served up to 11pm, and the only other drinks you could get then was in the disco which went on until late. Snack were also served late at night in case you still felt hungry. Varied entertainment every night which was nice and the people who worked there would do anything to cater you needs, really helpful people. When we went it seemed really quiet for July school holidays, but the 1st week we were there we had the beach nearly all to ourselves, and the best beach bar you could have, it was called the "Swing Bar" because it had swing seats round the bar, really good when you wanted to get out of the sun for a while. We went here for a really relaxing holiday, because of our stressful lives and it was that relaxing that 9 months after we came back our 2nd son was born. So would highly recommend this resort, not 5 star but will be going back when our youngest son learns to like flying a bit more.0 -
Thanks for the help on the Royal Decameron, that is starting to look good for February.0

we did the bluebay getaway and got the shock of our lives.. google it. lol.Mexico seems to be the best choice for what we are after.
I think a good hotel in a slightly less touristy area, or at least a less busy one, will suit. The idea of day trips to various sites etc sounds ideal.
So Mexico it is, now I need hotel recommendations, preferably letting me know who they were booked through, I think on this occasion we will book the holiday as a package rather than independantly. I guess an all inclusive hotel is favourite, we always have the option of eating out too, if all inclusive I would want a hotel with really good food.
Any info on trips done with approximate costings would help too.
Thanks for all your help so far.0 -

LOL, not exactly what I was looking for.
I'll mention it, by 'phone, from a safe distance...0
