  • hi everyone,
have managed to come under last couple of months and have used money left over to stockpile non perishables such as toilet paper, washing powder etc. If I didn't do that the extra few pounds would just be frittered away on rubbish. icon12.gif
Have cooked piece of ham this morning, which I managed to buy at half price, this will then be frozen to use in future dinners. Try to buy meat which is on offer but this is not always possible with "happy meat". Does anyone else think that organic chicken seems to have gone up in price an awful lot recently or is it just in my area. Was really unhappy at price of bird last weekend.icon9.gif
Will try to organize meal planner later but going out for a few meals this month so plan may have to be very flexible.
    Good luck to everyone.

    Hi Mrs M,

Please can you put me down for £200 this month.

It's a bit of a cheat really as I did some shopping yesterday and am starting my budget for March from today but I have adjusted it down from £250 to £200 to compensate. This is an area that I really do have to get a grip of as I still spend far too much on food!

    Good luck everyone!

    Happy March to all:D

Can I please set my target at £340 (again)

I am probably being a bit optimistic, as last month was a fair bit over due to being too weary to cook, or just not wanting to eat the food we had in, and this is the month I am due:)

I have made a meal plan for the month, well for 28 days as I have planned in 3 take-aways for the days I really can't be bothered cooking!

Can I ask a question to those of you who batch cook? Do you have multiple cookware dishes, for example 3/4 lasagne or pie dishes? So when you are making a lasagne or a pie, you can make multiple and then freeze them in the dishes you cooked them in??? Or do you transfer them into different dishes for freezing??? Sorry if that seems like a silly question, or not very clear!

    Mel x

Another no spend day for me today, my banana bread was a waste of time with the kids they dont like it !!!!!! so i now have 2x 2lb banana bread with no clue as to what to do with. On the plus side i found a bottle of washing up liquid lurking in the back of the cupboard so i can now stop adding water to the small amount of fairy liquid i had left :o and also means i dont have to go shopping tomorrow :j . hope everyone has a great day x

    Hi all

elly2- can you freeze the banana bread?

Well I did my main weekly shop today and have spent £24.00. That included buying some envelopes, battery and some toothbrushes for the children. Forgot it was a five week month so will see how I go on £30 a week ;)

Hi elly2 - could you maybe use some of it with jelly as a base for a Trifle?

Updated my signature with March spends so far, had a busy time in the Kitchen, have made a Quiche to slice up for DD2's Lunchbox this week, Peanut Cookies, Fairy Cakes, Humous, Bread & Rolls.;)

Dinner tonight is Chicken, HM Stuffing, Bread Sauce, Roast Potatoes, Carrots, Spring Greens & HM Yorkies. For a change I have put the Chicken in the Slow Cooker, read on the Slow Cooker thread that the chicken then falls straight off the bones so no waste at all. I should then have some Chicken left over so shall make a Chicken Pie for tomorrow night's Dinner. Shall then make Soup with the Carcass.:D

    Have a good day everyone.

    Hi all.
My March GC budget started on 23-02 and I am happy to say I have had all NSD's since then, although tomorrow I need milk (and just milk), but then I want to hold out til sunday and do a shop as the cupboards will look pretty bare by then, but I'm all meal planned up to then so technically there should be some more NSD before then.
This is my first serious month where I am going to be honest and accountable. Eeek!

GOOD LUCK for March everyone :)
