Another no spend day for me today, my banana bread was a waste of time with the kids they dont like it !!!!!! so i now have 2x 2lb banana bread with no clue as to what to do with. :j . hope everyone has a great day x
You didn't try to eat it on the day you made it did you? You need to leave it till at least the next day. If it wasn't a particularly sweet recipe it is best to treat it like a loaf and have butter on it.
Hope this helpsI don't get to come on here too often.
Too buzy money saving!0 -
Been and done the 'big shop' yesterday and then a trip to Sainsbugs this morning for 'whoopsies':D Spend so far is £62.37, freezer and cupboards are full so apart from loo rolls (sending OH to Superdrug tomorrow) I shouldn't need anything else for a while.
One of the guys at our allotment has given me a tray of plums:eek: I've made jam with 4lbs of them and reckon I've still got about 10lbs left........I see a lot of plum crumbles coming up!!0 -
Hello all - can I play? Just me, and money tight at present, so I am aiming for £40 from 2 -31 March. I have a full freezer, and a store cupboard that appears to be full of risotto rice! Guess what I will be mostly eating this month! I won't need to buy toiletries, cleaning products, etc, as I am fully loaded - also still using up washing powder that I got free with my machine nearly 2 years ago - I do wash my clothes, but the freebie liquid was enough for a family of 4 for 6 months, so that has done me for 2 years!:rotfl:
Anyway, I ramble......looking forward to the challenge!:A FLY FIRST, KNIT LATER :A0 -
I will be going for £400 again this month.Already spent £164.86 on my monthly shop at Sainsbury's this morning.
Thanks,

So when you are making a lasagne or a pie, you can make multiple and then freeze them in the dishes you cooked them in??? Or do you transfer them into different dishes for freezing??? Sorry if that seems like a silly question, or not very clear!
I don't freeze 'assembled' lasagne - I assemble after defrosting the components.
Haven't yet made a pie for freezing (have only made 1 and it's wasn't a resounding success)
What I do with things like bolognese, stew, casserole, chille etc is make up the 'meat' portion of the meal in batches, and freeze portions of that.
Tonight I made Chille - enough for 5 portions, but only 2 of us here. So 2 used tonight, and the rest split into 3 (clean) 500g margarine tubs. These will come down to room temp this evening, and be fridged to cool further overnight. Tomorrow morning they'll go into the freezer. On Tuesday I'll turn the 'block' they've become out of the tubs (a quick run under a tap to loosen them if necessary) and put the portions into freezer bags -- these take less space in the freezer than the tubsCheryl0 -
Hi everyone,
Went to Aldi today as I'd heard that they do 1 litre milk for 49p. But was all gone by time I got there so got the 4 pint which is cheaper than Spar (our local shop) but dearer than the grocers wher I could have bought it yesterday. Amd got overcharged too!!! Ah well!
Bought 2 fruit trees 1 apple and 1 pear whilst I was there- £4.19 each which I thought was good value. Will come out of separate budget so spent £10.33 on groceries.
Probably need more milk tomorrow but think I'll stick to Tesco Freshnlo. have a Tesco Express just near work so can pop out at some point.
Made fairy cakes for lunchboxes and rice pud for after tea.
Meal planned for 2 weeks so will just need f&v and dairy stuff as have enough in for meals.
