Hi everyone,
Spent another £5.50 in local Spar today most of which was on baby wipes and a dummy for DGS! Got 2 chicken breast fillets reduced to £1.88, which I'll be able to strech to 4 of us. Prob do a stir fry with veg to bulk it out and cheap instant noodles:)
I've had my chicken stock and left over chicken from roast last Sunday in my fridge all week intending to turn it into a chunky soup/stew so HAVE TO do that tomorrow othewise it's gonna need throwing away! Will prob add some dumplings to make it more sustantial. Got enough meat in for next weeks meals so will just need F&V, bread, milk and youghurts, possibly cereal too.Official DFW nerd - 282 'Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts'

Just popping on to say I've manged a few NSDs this month. Ended up taking my brother out fo coffee for his birthday (we're both busy at opposite times so we only got a chance to meet around coffee time today) - shocked that it cost nearly £8! For hot water?? Still debating whether to chalk it up towards birthday present budget or grocery challenge budget...
Either way, I'm doing well this month. 1 week in, and the only thing I need is some fruit and veg for next week, possibly some fabric conditioner if I find it on special offer soon, but I could probably make it stretch till next month (student laundry habits! hehe)0 -
Morning All,
Hope All doing well on the challemge.
Due to busy week at work I clocked up 3 NSD. Will need to visit Mr A to get in Fruit & Vegs for next week plus milk. Will up date you later on final spend for the week.

Not doing brilliantly, so far have spent just over £100:eek:   , but have bulked buyed sausages from the butcher and started bulk buying the 2lt of freshnlo milk from the little Tescos up the road. At the mo this milk is only 96p from here, but the BIG MrT further up doesn`t stock this(only seen it once there), which seems a bit odd. Anyway I am buying 2-4 bottles every other day and freezing some of this, untill i`m pretty much full up.
I will do a bit more bulk buying from the butcher mainly mince and more milk this weekend, then the kids want school meals for some days during next week. Once this is sorted I will give myself a certain amount and challenge myself to make this last the whole week. Lets see if I can do it.Grocery Challenge 2013: July week 1 £90/£87.41

Morning everyone :hello:
So today is the first day of my challenge. I am doing it weekly, £30 for 2 adults and 2 cats. Freezer is well stocked. Pantry so-so and fridge practically empty.
One whole drawer of meat in the freezer, all bought reduced last week. Only drawback is whatever I cook with it cannot be re-frozenBut I'm confident I can work it out
So it's Heron/Iceland in the morning (walking) and Tesco in the evening for the rest + reduced stuff (by car).
This is exciting! :j

PS: Sorry I haven't been able to read through other people's postsHope you're all well.

As long as you COOK it before refreezing, then it's totally fine to do so -- and I do it all the time.
In fact I can't remember the last time I cooked meat that hadn't been in the freezer first, and most meals I cook (other than chops and such) serve a minimum of 4, and there are only 2 of us here on a full-time basis - so almost every meal cooked from scratch means a couple of portions (or more) head back into the freezer.Cheryl0 -

Running out of some stuff leftover from last month now so had to do a quick shop for dinner yesterday. My first shop of the months was only £1.48.2 bags of stir fry veg from the reduced cabinet,a bit of chicken we had leftover for sandwiches went into that and I added some soy sauce, one portion of noodles left in the cupboard so that was added too and it did 4 of us.I bought a reduced loaf and chocolate swiss roll too.
Today we have to do the first full shop and as always a trip to the reduced cabinets will be the first stop."Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0 -
I can't believe how quickly we are going through food this month already!!! trying to hold out until w/c 16/3 to do a shop again. Had a bit of a blowout yesterday, but hopefully it taught the kids a lesson in economics.....
We had to go into bristol so I offered the kids a McD to keep them sweetthen half way though said we could go to a shop instead and they could spend their £2 in there on food instead " No mum we want happy meals!!" so I bought them their food and said that mum and bf would go and spennd their £2 each in the shop instead, kids wolfed down their HMs in 2 secs and were still hungry!! We got a huuuuuuuuuge pizza (14"?) 2 garlic breads and a strudel for pudding, enough to feed 4 of us :T all for less than their HMs!!! Hopefully next time they'll come to the shop with us and get to keep their £2 for their money boxes:j
Food budget: Nov £80 / 2.33 /0.00/0.00/00.00(.)Splurges (if I list them here I might remember I've already treated myself!!(.)NSD 2/3
