Morning all....
Change of plans for the weekend, we're having our 2 yr old nephew from Friday to Sunday due to messy relationship break up *sigh*
Will have to go and buy some FF milk - we only have skimmed, and some sort of juice for him to drink - lemonade probably isn't very child-friendly!
I'm also having to adjust our menu a bit, as I don't think he'll like HM Tandoori chicken!! HM Chilli and rice tonight, steak pie tomorrow should be OK I think. I guess that's the joy of having a menu plan, is that I know exactly what we've got in the fridge/freezer for meals.
Was pleased that I managed to put 2 x 2-ppl portions of sausage casserole in the freezer from Wednesday night; am hoping to do the same for the chilli today as well.0 -
I need to buy orange juice and bread today. I have had to rejig my meal plan slightly until my new cooker arrives on Wednesday. Tonight is spag bol, tomorrow I can still do the tapas I planned and Sunday I will do my leg of lamb in my SC. Monday will proably be sweet & sour pork and rice. Tuesday I will heat up a shepherds pie in the microwave and Wednesday I can christen my new cooker. I think we will have roast chicken to celebrate. Is it sad I am getting so excited about a double oven?
I hope you all have a good weekend.GC 2011 Feb £626.89/£450 NSD3/7 March £531.26/£450 April £495.99/£500 NSD 0/7 May £502.79/£500

Spent a tenner all week due to illness. DH has been going out for bread/milk/eggs as we've needed them so saved a fair bt. He doesn't buy whim items the way I do, but he doesn't enjoy shopping so I'll be back at the hlm asap.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

Afternoon all
Just going to update spends, did Mr A shop this morning and spent £45.88 - they even had Stardrops for 50p - have never seen them in our store before I think the word is spreading! Also spent £13.23 in Mr Al as they had the 69p f&v offer on what I buy and then Sflds have Andrex 2 x 9 rolls for £6.00 - so added those to the stockpile. My total spend today was £65.11 - I don't remember when I only spent that much in a week! Admittedly there wasn't much meat (only liver and bacon for tonights liver and bacon casserole and cooked meats for next weeks pack ups). Have about £17 more left in the budget this month than I did last month at this point - maybe I'm starting to get the hang on this ....! Still have got stocks in the freezer and storecupboards, so hopefully will not need to spend anymore between now and next week's shop and can then go to the Trade Butcher again for some bulk buying.
Keep well and safe, hang in there everyone you're doing great!

Just to say re the two year old.
1. It would not do him any harm to drink skimmed for a couple of days (although he may not like the taste!).
2. He can drink water or very dilute fruit juice (get a carton of say apple and you can have some too).
3. Give him the tandoori, chilli etc, just put yoghurt through it or sour cream, or cheese as a side dish. You'd be surprised what they will try especially if you are eating it!
Oh yes and......good luck.Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

Also I'm making my challenge a bit more challenging as I'm boxing food up for my week holiday to wales in April, so I emptied my tin cupboard last night&I'm going to be picking up bits I need for my holiday with each shop I do upto easter and hope to still keep within my £80 budget

Well went shopping in Iceland and Sainsburys to get a few bits and bobs turned expensive.so spent £16.30 in Sainsburys, used some ecover vocuhers for the cleaning products, so hopefully wont have to buy any of that stuff till April at least. Then off to Iceland and spent another £7.75 on ham, leeks, BOGOF flora, loaf of bread and something else. So fingers crossed no shopping till end of next week.
I set £30 for this week only £12.67 over, must try harder!!!0 -
I just spent £9 in M's (my least favourite supermarket, but sadly the nearest), but couldn't get any cereal. I normally buy whatever I like the look of that's on offer - but there were no offers!! As a result, it's toast for breakfast until I get the big shop sorted.
Also treated us to pizza for tonight's dinner, considerably cheaper than the takeaway pizza OH wanted, but should keep him happy.
Happy weekend everyone!0
