Spent a little bit today in MrS. Had to get ingredients for next weeks cookery lesson with DD class - Weetabix Brownies - so picked up a couple of bits for us as well that I managed to miss off my MrT delivery, despite having made a meal plan - durrr  .

Anyway, have spent a fair bit of my budget now, but like most of you will hopefully only have to buy F&V and pay my milk bill.

Group hug for anyone who is struggling :grouphug:

I have to agree with the less is less mantra when it comes to shopping. I truly believed I was being all frugal and savvy when shopping around. When I checked the bank statement at the end of last month to discover nearly £600 in shopping I was gobsmacked to say the least. I have quite the wee stockpile of stuff under my stairs (cereals, soap powder, teabags, etc) but I had to stop.

I've set myself £450 for the month but to be honest I truly hope to be much less. Now that I've taken the thinking out of the task and planned the meals for the week, even husband's playing the game;) .

So, we've agreed carry out food for tomorrow (wee treat to all) but will be back on the MSE wagon come Saturday.

My main point for this post is to shed some embarrassment:o . Rather than go to the shops for bread & milk on my way home, I took home a co worker's bread (she's off tomorrow) and a sprare pint left over from the day. Hey, better the pound in my pocket eh

Just caught up on nearly 10 pages  . Thanks to Scotsaver and anyone who replied about cooking the whole chicken in the slow cooker. I will definitely be trying that in a couple weeks.

Last week's large shop was good and should last until Tuesday when I plan to shop properly again but I might need to get some fruit and veg for the weekend.

I'll have to be ultra organised next week as my Dad is having a new knee and will be in hospital most of the week plus my daughter (12) is in a show. So I've got to organise early mealtimes with meals that are quick and easy to prepare so that she can get off to the show and we can visit her grandad in hospital!:rotfl:

    Have a good weekend everyone.

    5th NSD in a row .............. am I breaking the habit of a lifetime:rotfl:

rosieben -I loved your smiley -never seen that one before, it's great!

procrastinator -so sorry you're feeling down at the moment, hope you feel better soon.

Mellika - I hope you get to try the Oxtail Stew sometime soon.

I made 10 HM Beef Steak Pasties today for the freezer -so that should do us for at least 4 meals sometime. Also baked a batch of lemon curd tarts just to use up one of the many jars of lemon curd I bought last year :o -they tasted better than I remembered. Also cooked up a pot of lentil and vegetable soup about 10 big helpings so 8 of these have gone in the freezer as well. The other two we had tonight, followed by HM fishcakes and HM chips. Just taken a loaf out of the breadmaker so that's me done for today................phewicon7.gif

    Good night everyone!

We did our weekly shop last night instead of the usual Friday as DH was finished work early. Was most chuffed because not only did the total come the same as the online "prediction" ( ;) ) I got a large Kingsmill loaf for 50p (Asda) and BBE isn't even until Saturday. I had gone with it in mind I would get some whoopsied white bread if I found any under 50p (had swapped meals around and really fancied B&B with me mince and chips! and had in mind to freeze the rest for when another such desire occured.) So -nice one!

So this week's total was £23.54. Will update my signature now. Am feeling really quite motivated now, esp with my month's meal plan all done and on the fridge. It seems to be working so far and makes me feel a bit less stressed knowing it is all done for a while so I can concentrate on DD and my studying :j

Did shopping last night and managed to find Stardrops in MrA for 50p! Also a warning - if you buy cooked meat remember to empty the bag it is in and don't leave it out otherwise your very inquisitive dog with a very sensitive nose will find it during the night, eat it and come and say thank you very much at 4am! To my defense - I wasn't feeling too good last night! Lesson learned... and will now have to go out and buy more cooked meat for sandwiches.
