Hello everyone, I've just done my first grocery spend of the month and it came in at £21.30 between S0merfield and the new Ald!, so that's me topped up with toilet rolls, tins, veg and milk plus filled the gaps in the freezer with reduced bread & rolls. Batch of Spag Bol in slow cooker and a huge chicken to cook tonight that should feed us for 5 meals. Frozen turkeys half price in S0merfields but I have no space for one. Apart from that, it only worked out 10p per kilo cheaper than fresh chicken, so not all that much of a bargain in my book.

Hope everyone is doing alright, sorry if I have missed anything important but I haven't got around to reading any of this March thread yet.

I went to our new Aldi today mainly for a top up of fruit (grapes, bananas, oranges) pack of cress seeds for DS (he has just discovered he likes cress) as well as some soft cheese for the passion cake we baked last night (used 2 frozen bananas :) ) Also popped next door to B & M also recently opened and picked up some Baxters veg soups for OH to keep at work as emergency rations and 16 silcon cupcake cases, something I've been wanting for ages but couldn't find at a price I was willing to pay. Total spend today from grocery budget £9.40, signature updated.

    Hello all,
just got back from weekly shop and SHOCKED that I spend £91.23 however by time I went through and took off booze and magazines it come to £76.25 - still more than I thought. I really thought I'd come in at about £65 ish.

ah well... if I keep this up I might not do a normal shop at end of month and live out of freezer and cupboards as it's obvious I'm buying more than I think and stockpiling it.

    good luck all.

  • Just veg today. Was going to get OH to call at MrS on the way home but compared prices on the web!! Decided to walk to MrA in my lunchbreak instead. Smart price leeks, parsnip, swede and smart price stir fry £2.62. That'll do tonight's stir fry chicken and veg and veggie soup for Mon night.

A couple of little spends today. Not strictly necessary, but couldn’t resist some whoopsied ‘finest’ Lincolnshire sausages (85% British pork, coarse & herby – yum, my favourite  ). Normally £2.59 for 6 sausages & I got 14 (1 kg) for £2.80 :D . And grabbed a couple of bits that will need sooner rather than later while in there.

Although there isn’t much left in the budget I am about where I was this time last month, with 2 weeks only to go & only really needing milk. So I know it is do-able. But really must be good & stay out of the shops:o . Not that there is any room left in my freezers for any more food!

Just updated sig, did my massive Mr A shop which came on Monday and just nipped to Somerfield to get rolls, I have decided to treat the kids to rolls for their lunchboxes instead of sandwiches made with HM bread (also because I keep forgetting to put it on and have to do it overnight, which then means it is a nightmare to cut in the morning when it is warm *and breathe*) I have made up all of next weeks for them today and shoved them in the freezer. This is the first time I have tried this so hope it works out ok!!

Evening all - been on the Friday night torture that is Mr Ts.
Spent £49.40 but have all the next weeks shopping (to last until next weekend apart from some extra milk along the way) and enough toiletries for the next 2 weeks at least.
Have done the meal plan for the next week and we're having a few things that we haven't had before/for a while so it'll be a nice change:rolleyes:

I'm now at £83.40 for 2 weeks out of 4 - £3.40 over my mini weekly budget but hope to claw that back over the next week or two as I have stuff in the freezer and cuoboards in bulk that should last a little while at least (I hope!)

Oh well fingers crossed - it could be worse:confused:

Am in preparation mode for shopping tomorrow. I've been looking for bargains online and compared prices but I note Asda are now asking for my postcode a'la Tesco.

I've been embarrassed beyond reality when realising we'd spend nearly £600 in one month. So, I set £450 for the month but I sorely hope for much less. So, I've decided I must use up what I've got where possible and merely supplement.

So, notwithstanding DH's two "popping into...." episodes costing about £18 I'm ready for my first shop of the month.

I've done a mealplan around what I've got and I think I need only get tuna x 2, eggs, bacon, veg, bacon joint and fish. Will buy the Aldi fruit and veg methinks. Also, if anyone knows the cheapest place for cereal/muesli bars I'd be grateful to know. They're saving my life for brekkie at work (have lost over a stone :T )

Am so looking forward to coming here and posting a very healthy total after shopping tomorrow.
