Ooh I forgot we were in March so that means a new grocery challenge :rotfl:

Okay on paper I probably did okay last month, maybe just a few quid over. However because I had a really bad month health wise we had quite a few take aways :( So I am having a budget for March of £175 but that is going to be £50 for take aways, I am taking that money out of the bank and when it's gone, it's gone! If we starve, we starve!! :rotfl:

I haven't done my monthly shop for March yet, going to try and be very organised and meal plan for the month. Wish me luck!! :D
 Think happy & you'll be happy

Did my fortnightly shop today, so I've spent £69 of my £90 target.

Just popped on to update my signature as I went into Tesco today to get milk & bread. I haven't spent anything else since I went into Poundland last week to get the 1.5kg of sugar on offer so doing ok so far. I'll be doing my first weekly shop of the month on Wednesday so I'll see how I go with that. I've done the menu plan for next week already (my week runs from Thurs to Weds) & I've made the shopping list out so I hopefully won't be too tempted by any special offers!

I popped to the shop today to get things to last us until we go on holiday, spent just over £10 getting chicken, bread, milk and some veggies and fruit. With what we have in the freezer and cupboard that will keep us going, with maybe a pint of milk on the weekend. Tonight had pasta (fresh egg pasta, from the freezer), chicken, sweetcorn and cherry tomatoes. Tomorrow I think is going to be an eggy meal as we have 8 eggs to use up.

Hi all! Been away from here for a week as stupid computer keeps going on the blink, and I've missed about 30 pages! Sorry if there's any major news I've missed, and well done to all who came under or close. :-)
I've set up a spreadsheet now, so I can look at what I'm spending in every area, not just food, and it's quite interesting to see how a couple of quid here and there mounts up!
My daughter had her birthday on Sunday, and I said she could choose ANYTHING she wanted for dinner. What did she choose? Corned beef hash! Good girl!!!!
Still doing well for march (my month starts on 23rd) but will post totals when I have more time.

    Morning All,

I'm going into my local town today on a bargain hunt ;) I got cat food at a great price last week so I'll see if I can get it again today. I'm going to try to stay out of Wilkinsons though as it's too easy to get carried away in there plus I'm well stocked up for toiletries & cleaning stuff :D I'll update my sig later when I'm back - the thought of doing that should definitely stop me wasting money :rotfl:
  • well I woke up in the middle of the night:rolleyes: thinking "I didn't take the baby milk I got for DD2 off my MrA bill" :rotfl: :rotfl: . Unfortunately when I looked I'd also made a mental math mistake :o so only £2.00 to add not £6.00.

    BTW that's Cow&Gate Goodnight milk for £3.00 instead of £4.97 (thinks.....maybe I'll get a couple more)

I'm off to update my siggy then to wo*k.

Well, I managed to spend over £100 since the 25th

DD2 has joined a healthy eating programme and it's costing me a fortune! Extra fruit, wholemeal bread and wholemeal pasta - which I can seem to find near a value price. Trying to find different things for her lunchbox has been a nightmare.

I've been trying to use up the food in the fridge freezer freezer so I can defrost it but that hasn't worked as I've ended up filling it up again :o

I've put my first try of batch cooking spag. bol. in the slow cooker this morning, hope it turns out ok . I was going to make double the amount but got scared in case it was horrible :o - we'll see what it's like at 3.30 when I get in from work.

I had to buy milk this morning but I did manage a no spend day yesterday. I was really tired last night but I still found the energy to bake some chocolate chip cookies. I plan to bake some fairy cakes this afternoon when I get home from work. I have 2 1/2 weeks to go and I think I am on track.

I will be picking up some meat at the butchers tomorrow to top up the freezer. All in all things are going according to plan.

Just a quickie to say thanks to whoever came up with the idea of a Weetabix cake. Yum!

I made one last night with Oatibix (bleurch), added some chopped squishy pears from the freezer, about an ounce of mixed fruit and reduced the milk to mix it and it's fab. Cannot stop scoffing it this morning.
