Congratulations!! Rachelmk. I always think it is extremely hard to be an OSer and start a relation.
Back to the CG.
My weekend shopping is rather unremarkable. I bought 12 whoopsed nectarines for £1.11 at T on Saturday and now some are showing traces of mold  . How can that happen ????
Money spent so far: £9.48 / £750 -
Thanks jtb - I'd forgotten about newspaper. I think we may have some in the garage, from the unpacking. The brassica seedlings are only a couple of days old so they still have the glass on top (an old fridge shelf and an aluminium window:rotfl:) - easy to cover.
It's my new strawberries I'm worried about though. Bought them mail order from T&M. The carriers kept them for about a week and they looked half dead, so I nursed them along in 3" pots on the windowsills for a couple of weeks and then had only been hardening them off for a week before deciding it was mild enough to just leave them out. Do you think they'll mind being frozen?
DS5 and I are off to make some bread in the slow cooker now. The recipe I found uses wholemeal flour and we're substituting white. I don't know whether to use the same volume (2 3/4 cups) or the same weight. (2 3/4 cups of white apparently weighs 9.639oz whereas that volume of wholemeal weighs 12.62oz)
Cross your fingers please.Time flies like an arrow.

Hello everyone, I'm joining for the first time as I'm sick of spending an arm and a leg on food every month!!
I'm going for £250 for March, to cover all food and household stuff, basic toiletries etc. It's a lot considering there's only 2 of us, but based on our recent spending ( ), it's pretty reasonable!
Food is a nightmare for us, as I'm a veggie, hubby's a carnivore, and we're very disorganised most nights. Hubby works long hours most of the time and I'm supposed to be studying in the evenings for my professional exams  as well as working, cooking, cleaning etc etc. I don't know how people manage all of that and kids as well!
I haven't done a big shop yet this month, as I managed to spend £75 in Lidl  just over a week ago, and I'm determined to make it last, although I've done several corner shop runs since then  !!0 -

My mum and aunt came to visit me on saturday for my daughter's birthday, and one of their highlights is to go to tesco (they only have a tiny one where they live). We spent ages looking in the cleaning aisle for stardrops, to no avail. We asked a shop assistant, no joy, so gave up. ARGH!! Then I popped to asda, for a cheat's chinese take away, and had a look there, lo and behold, there it was! A big bottle of concentrated, reduced from 98p to 50p, so I bought all they had (which was 2!)
Just been sent a set of six coupons through the post from Sainsbugs for £3 off a £30 shop, so I may have to do a weekly shop there next month to take advantage of that - it could be another £12 or £15 off my month's shopping. Are they much more expensive these days? Time was I couldn't even afford to go through the door!

Evening all, Just updated my sig, got milk, bread, loo roll, fruit & veg today, still not done a big shop this month (my month started on the 27th feb)
, have redone my mealplan for the week after having a good look in the freezer/cupboards - I think I can last until Sunday/Monday without a major shop, going back to the Co-Op tomorrow with a list as need some baking stuff and a few other bits and bobs but my list comes to less than £10, and that will do us til hopefully Monday. Making loads of HM soup, found some cod steaks lurking at the back of the freezer so will use them in a fish pie, also found some ciabatta rolls in the freezer so will make bacon and cheese panninis with HM wedges for tea one night.
Had a baking day today with the kids, which was nice, so now have a malt loaf, 2 banana loafs,(these will be breakfasts and snacks for lunch boxes for the week) a big batch of cookies and there is a chocolate sponge cooling just now which I'll ice later on.
Determined to come in under budget this month, and it's looking good so far!!!!!:T

I just got these too. Thing is I've almost given them up and changed to Aldi/MrA. They do have milk v cheap at the moment. P'raps we could stock up on specials? at least for 1 week. Will prob only use 1 or maybe 2 myself. Guess mysupermarket could help. If basket is less than £3.00 more it could be worth it.PennyGrabber wrote: »Just been sent a set of six coupons through the post from Sainsbugs for £3 off a £30 shop, so I may have to do a weekly shop there next month to take advantage of that - it could be another £12 or £15 off my month's shopping.
