    Just a quickie to say

    THANKYOU!!!

to all of you lovely people wishing me congratulations on my impending doom (wedding!)

We're thinking about October this year:eek: as we have nothing to wait for and my parents have volunteered to pay for a great big chunk of it. And no I'm not up the duff!
So its grocery challenge, weight loss challenge (want to lose at least a stone) and generallly saving and panicking!

    Thanks again you lovely lot!

PS Not spent anything on groceries since Sunday and shouldn't need anything until the weekend.

The trouble is we do tend to need him to shop. The boys get through unbelievable amounts of milk, fruit, juice, eggs and cheese and they're all things we can't really stockpile (We try but tend to run out of fridge space - and visitors tend to worry when they open your fridge to find an entire shelf of juice, one of cheese, one of eggs, two drawers of fruit and a door full !!18.16 litres} of milk:rotfl:).

I considered feeding them less in the hope they'd stop growing, but they carried on getting longer and just started looking like skeletons:(.

Never mind. We have sufficient bread flour to last till they finish their exams this summer, other storecupboard ingredients ought to last the year and the meat should do for at least 3 months.

I haven't dared start the chillies and peppers yet because my greenhouse is still waiting for them to put it up:rolleyes: but I have 24 tomato seedlings, 9 courgettes, 1 strawberry runner, 75 cabbage seeds and 122 seed potatoes sitting on the windowsills, a patio covered with 4 trays of cauliflower and broccoli seedlings and 21 pots of garlic and a picnic table full of pea and broad bean seedlings and strawberry runners. I'm worried about the cold weather that's been forecast for later this week. The peas, broad beans and garlic should be fine, since they're meant to be overwintered, but I'm not sure whether the new strawberries will need protection.

We have some spring onions, leeks, cabbages and sprouts still in the ground (and we found some potatoes that seem to have come through the winter quite happily) and still have at least 12lbs of plums and damsons in the freezer (trouble is I think we're all plummed out:p) and we have a quite terrifying number of tins of baked beans and tuna so we're not likely to starve any time soon.:rotfl:

They don't have that 98p milk in our Tesco Savvymummy. I hate the way they charge higher prices in towns where they think they can get away with it!

My attempt at a NSD yesterday failed miserably when I realised we didn't have any bread left, so spent £5.39 in MrS on two loaves, two packs of 6 hot cross buns, and some sweets for the children. If you spend over £5 you get free parking so just about scraped it.

Am thinking of buying a breadmaker but have very limited worktop space so wondered whether it's worth it, as if it goes into a cupboard it may never see the light of day.

Have big MrT delivery coming tomorrow which should see us through until the 18th. Should only need F&V. Have updated totals and will update again once MrT has been.

DD being invested as a Brownie tonight so having a quick macaroni cheese for tea - Yum!

Hi everyone - just logged on to update my total, made a HUGE dent in it today, had a trip to the Butchers and spent almost £30, then a trip to Asda, had to restock Flour, demerera sugar, oats, etc etc and also had to buy some booze to take to friends we are visiting at the weekend.

Dinner tonight is Tuna Lasagne, steamed baby potatoes and a big bowl of Salad - not planning to have a pudding but I've made the famous Weetabix Cake so will have a slice of that with a cuppa.:p

Made this Duke Pudding at the weekend and it was lovely, really recommend giving it a try - thanks to thriftlady for the recipe.;)

    Have a good evening everyone.:D

    Hi everyone

Going shopping later for the bits and bobs that should see me through until the end of the month. I did a whole month's mealplanning and a shopping list yesterday so aim to just top up with milk/bread for the rest of the month once I've done this shop.

Will also put an order in with the butcher and hopefully get a bit knocked off like I did last time.

Sylvan - if you've got any newspaper, just pop it over the top of the seedlings that are outside and it should protect them from the cold.

Will update spending later ...... off to finish the Roast Pork Dinner  :D

Hi Coxy11 - I would be lost without my Breadmaker, it's on quite a lot as I make all our bread with it, dough for rolls, Pizza dough, Carrot & coriander bread, cinnamon bread.......the list is endless.;)

Nipped to Mr T today -- needed a couple of grocery item from there, plus a couple of other bits for both me and DD.

Really annoyed though, as one of the items I needed from Mr T isn't stocked by our local one (they're too small!) So I'm now going to have to check our local C00p and S'flds to see if either of them have it (though it'll be dearer) -- or else I have a 9 mile round trip in the car for something that only costs £1.29

Must make myself a list of things I don't use often enough to keep spares of in the house - but that I regularly forget to check before going shopping. Wouldn't have minded, but I was in a big Mr T (where I've bought it before) last Friday :rolleyes2

Mmm, did a small veg shop today - £3.60 and then went onto MR A as run out of cereal (as I forgot it) and ended up stockpiling on offers that will see us through for a good few months and so I spent another £60 approx :( I am going to switch to annual budget I think so I will update later when I have worked it all out ;)
