Congrats Rachelmk! :j
I have just worked out my very first month-long meal plan in an attempt to stick to a monthly budget of £100 rather than the weekly of £20. It seems more workable that way. Anyway, have taken into account this week's share of the 100 and according to Asda online prices, the entire plan should cost £94.57 (this also includes nappies/wipes, toiletries and cleaning products for the month.) Now I am bound to use up the remaining pounds in things we run out of/have forgotten etc, plus more probably!
Anyway, let's see if I can at least come any closer than the £15 overspend of Feb's GC!:D You never know, it might just work...Love and compassion to all x0 -
Well, I'm back on the grocery challenge. I think I've been doing well, but just fancied joining in again
.
First shop of the month today, and as I woke up at 5am with a migraine I didn't really get moving til noon so no big trek around all the big 4 for me. And to be honest if I hadn't written a pretty comprehensive list last night I would have just wandered around the supermarket aimlessly like in the old days.
I did get to M's - spent £15.96 there, and spent £67.47 at MrS's. Running total of £83.43. Seemed like a lot when I was in the shop, but I won't be buying any more loo rolls, toiletries or cleaning products this month so not too bad really.
I have 3 whole chickens in the freezer, and some mince and steak and fish left from last month, so I will only need some more veg - going to Aldi later this week; and milk to last most of the next 2 weeks (but I don't think we will eat all that chicken by then). Well that's the plan lol!
So I still have £166.57 left.
Welcome to the GC to all the new faces here and Hi again to all the old hands.

Hello, must try a bit harder! Thrown away most of a chicken and a leg of lamb steak that the kids didnt have while I was away.! That could have made a couple of meals or so!!!
Please put me down for £275 please. Thats for 7 of us.When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
I've been and done my first shop of the month.....
L!dl for the Rissotto rice that's on their offer sheet from today (£1.79/kg), and also picked up a couple of jars of 'instant' pasta sauce (£1.69 each, making 12 portions each). Not sure what they'll taste like (one is Pesto, the other is Spaghetti alla Diavola), but decided they'd make a change with Spaghetti instead of sandwiches when I'm 'home alone' for a snack meal. Then nipped to S'flds for some cheap bread -- they didn't have any, but I did pick up some crumbed ham which goes off the 100% free offer tomorrow. £2.50 for 10 slices still isn't 'cheap' cheap, but both DS and I like it -- so two packs of that with a date of 16th.
While in S'flds I had a quick flick through a magazine that had a 'weeks budget menu' flashed on the front cover. Found the section and nearly laughed at what they call budget -- 5 main courses and a dessert. The dessert was 52p, and the main courses were (if I remember correctly) £1.82, £2.10, £2.11, £2.70 and another over £2. Not toooo bad in my eyes if these served a family of 4 -- but the costs were per serving  Needless to say the magazine stayed on the shelf......Cheryl0 -
Another top-up shop for me today. Why is it the minute I get home from the supermarket, my DH tells me we have run out of something else and he can't possible live without it for 24 hours?
