Good luck with the appt today, Lurker, I do understand that you need to balance getting the cash now with not letting them get away with it!! Look forward to hearing more later!

Babyquest - not sure what this is? Is it - trying for a baby...? If so, you must be feeling really gutted re the job, and I do feel for you :(

    hi JoKay,
Babyquest is us trying for baby but we need medical assistance which doesn't come cheaply (had got some funds set aside though ),we'd been to consulatnt to make proper enquiries & they were more encouraging than I could have hoped.
we were sorting out diaries to really get started & then had to stop cos of job. suppose we ought to put it off until i get another job & can qualify for maternity pay (assuming it works) but that delays it further & clock is ticking.....

Kitchen is still a work in progress - am attempting to reorganised & declutter at the same time so that my excuse for it taking so long.

anyway, tribunal solicitor has said that I have strong case, odds are 70-30 in my favour, which is better than I would have expected, but its going to cost between 3 & 5k to take it that fair:eek::eek:.
in the meantime ex-work has to pay my statutory redundancy pay, which will give us about £4k but thats not going to last long especially as i would expect ex-work to drag out any process.
The next step is for solicitor to point out the holes in their case & ask for more money so my fingers are crossed that they will negotiate.

felt ill most of yesterday, its just nerves & stress. can't imagine what effect a tribunal will have if it gets that far. Pity they don't compensate for that!!

no jobs in papers this week, so back on the internet searching & I WILL finish the kitchen

Hi Lurker - glad to hear yesterday went ok ish - but boy, I wouldn't like to risk 4-5k of my money to go to tribunal!!! I think I'd try to put them a bit more (which it seems your solicitor is doing) and then cut my losses.

Re your decluttering - have you tried the bite size pieces approach?? Its very Flylady based - basically, you just declutter either 20 items or go for 20 minutes (or whatever suits you best), rather than getting completely overwhelmed and not doing anything!! Mind you, if you'd seen Oprah earlier this week - she had a couple with a 3500 square foot house jammed to the rafters with stuff - it took a team of 100 people 6 weeks to empty it!!

Good luck today with your job searching too.

sounds like a good idea.......& yet still I sit at computer!!

I think its cos I now have all the time in the world I have no motivation - the less you do, the less you want to do

I;m not keen on risking the money either, but equally, they have treated me badly & shouldnt get away with it (they were pretty harsh on some others too, but followed procedures with them so they were at least prepared & offered counselling) my ex-manager (also member of redundant club) could have persued a bullying complaint but didn't so they've got away with that already.

think will go try 20 minutes of madness ...see if I can acheive something

& the kitchen still isn't finished, my excuse is that I found another job to apply for & as the closing date was today that had to take priority!
this one would be the perfect location - could actually walk to work which would be such a treat.
Not been anywhere to spend so thats good & OH pointed out that we don't actually need to do a weekly shop, just top up with some bread for his butties & we're fine - having spent less than £22 last week this week could be under £5!:j
think we going to see new star trek film tomorrow, using the last of the free tickets I got from work, so cheap night there too
have persuaded him that we go out on Sunday morning & get some fresh air from walking about car boot sale, oooh the excitement!! no sarcasm there, I love car boots & am planning to do one in a couple of weeks so we'll check out the crowds etc
do need to pull finger out & get on with ebay & decluttering, try & make the most of this unexpected time off....if i look hard enough I might find my motivation again!

got some old cassette tapes to dump.....thats an easy job for tonight.....

Good luck with the job application, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you :D

Don't worry about not doing the housework either, I have done nothing all week. I didn't even sign up to Flylady this week - naughty indeed :rotfl: I have just gutted the kitchen though and the living room will follow soon. We will see if I actually get off my butt and do that though :D

Have fun at the Car Boot and let me know if Star Trek is good as I hope to go tomorrow. Don't forget, when you're out of free tickets you can do the Orange 2for1 offer on a Wednesday!

In the end we didnt go to see Star Trek - OH mate wants to go to so will be going during the week when he can join us (can't complain, he's given me tips for one of the jobs I applied for) so twas quiet night slobbing on sofa watching CSI NY....still desperate to go again....anywhere but here would be good!

sorted one kitchen cupboard, found handblender (oh had wanted to buy one from Mr T the other weeknso thats shut him up) which has been cleaned & will be used. also sorted few bits for car boot sale we plan for next BH weekend, weather permitting.

wandered about 2 local one this morning, no entry fee on either, found 1p on floor, spent 30p on 4 books & £10 on some meat which probably fell off back of lorry then snoozed the afternoon away.

now time to prepare tea & then spend the evening ironing....fun times!

Have a good week - any more news on the job front?

    Hi JoKay,
NY is a fantastic place & CSI Danny is so easy on the eye.......yumyum

no news yet, of the 4 I've put applications in for, 3 closing dates have passed one closes this week. fingers are crossed that job 1, 3 & 4 come back to me this week & at least want to talk to me

I do have application dilemma - In an ideal world this is my chance to get out of financial services, really dislike the sales culture but in the past banks & Building societies have been the only ones that have shown any interest. There is a job going about 18 miles away which is FS - do I apply or delay it a bit in the hope that one of my alternatives wants me?

any job is better than none.....but I want to break free....
