B & M has opened where MFI used to be - think of a cross between Wilkinsons, Approved Foods and Home Bargains - I think I mya have died and gone to heaven!

  • Took my car to the FastFit station in Kingston this morning for the first time ever and I was really impressed with the service. I was seen to straight away, the service was good, with fair pricing and the staff were very helpful.

    I would definitely recommend them.

Can anyone recommend a farm shop that they've used locally? I've been to Wakefield but found them quite expensive.

Failing that, a local butchers who make up their own variants of sausages and offer 'alternative' meat (especially game). No, not for me (just in case anyone wants to flame me!) but for my carnivorous father...
  • I use the butchers at Hackleton (A. Sansome) if thats not too far. He makes his own sausages and his spicy ones are yummy.

Jarvis Butchers in Broughton sell lamb and beef that have been reared in Campbell Park (Parkland Produce). My hubby had a burger from there once when they had a stall at an event in Campbell Park in the summer and he said it was really good, not the cheap horrible stuff you usually get!

Just had an email about a new gym opening up where Kids Play used to be (Knowlshill I think). Not that local myself, but they are offering membership for 9.99 a mth for first 200 customers for next 12 months (no joining fee, no contract)
Promotional code is MX39 or M3X9 as they've put both in email.

This is in no way a recommendation or anything, just passing it onto people more local than myself as sounds a good deal so far. Make sure you check out T&C's though.

Can anyone recommend a roofer please? I went up in the loft to get the decorations down and we have a pool of water there. Hopefully, it's something simple..

    Thanks

  • 454g Matthew Walker Christmas Puddings reduced to £2.97 in Costco yesterday - there were plenty there when I was in the store! (down towards the cakes but opposite the chicken / salmon fridge)

£6.99 on the Matthew Walker site.

They also had quite a few £9.97 real Christmas trees outside the front of the store. A Christmas tree and a pudding for less than £15... I thought that was quite good value.

Heads up for folk looking for a good butcher - on Queensway, near the Agora Centre there's a new chap just started. I had a long chat with him yesterday, as OH used to be butcher. He had 2kgs of shin of beef (makes a wonderful stew, especially when cooked in a slow cooker) for £9. He gets most of his meat in on the bone and butchers it himself, and is hoping to get a game licence soon.

Update - had the stew for tea yesterday - nicest bit of shin I've had in a long time.
