Do you have any particular type of food in mind? I was in the Grange at Grange Farm last week with my dad to celebrate his retirement; a very nicely-decorated place and good Indian food to boot (just don't have a starter) - quiet, but relatively 'posh' for an Indian - I was impressed!

Well I started thinking about an Indian, as he'd asked about the Jaipur, so that could be a solution, thanks. It may be a bit too quiet though, as at 18 he may prefer something livelier.

Does anywhere else have music? I seem to remember Olney Winebar used to, though I haven't been for many years (and a wine bar is probably more my sort of place than his).

  • How about Red Hot World Buffet? I have been on a number of occasions and each one has been great. Has a good selection of food – Indian., Chinese, Italian, Mexican, Salads, and a great range of deserts. It’s an all you can eat Buffet style place – you pay one price and help yourself (you pay extra for drinks).

They are quite happy to cater for large parties – we took 16 people there for a friend’s birthday and they sorted out a table for us. I would advise booking in advance though.

A quick heads up for anyone starting early on Christmas supplies. Tesco are doing the large tins of Quality Street / Roses etc on buy one get one free this week – they are priced at £10 a tin so you actually get them for the equivalent of £5 each. Possibly a good deal if you go in with a friend on them plus double Clubcard points at the moment.

We went to Red Hot the other week - it's where Aroma Buffet used to be, bit of a 'school dining room' approach, but nice enough (although not 'special')

Not all the chocs on the special offer come in traditional 'tins' - Roses were in cardboard boxes (so better for the environment?)

  • Errr...! On the old A5 (V4) next to Two Mile Ash there is a farm which often sells them (I can't remember the prices but think they're around £1.20 for 6, that's guessing though!). Also, out towards the villages (Hanslope), I'm sure that the house by Hatton Court Hotel also occasionally sells them.

Heading out toward Beachampton / Calverton / Nash way there are some more farms which might have what you're after.
  • Having unceremoniously killed the thread again, I'm back to ask for more advice... those of you regular on here know I'm planning a Civil Partnership at the moment.

I have the venues all sorted, but now it's into the nitty-gritty.

Those who are married - who did you have to do your photography, would you recommend them, and do you mind me asking how much you paid and what you got for your money? (PM me if you're not happy disclosing on here!).

    Ta in advance....

I had a not so good experience at the redhot world buffet. Found most of the food over-cooked (despite it being early evening). Can't deny there was something for everyone - but it was of a pretty mediocre quality.

I would look at a restaurant that specialises eg the Jasmine Cottage in Oldbrook for Chinese, or the Kam Tong in Great Holm. The Carrington Arms in Moulsoe is really good. All the restaurant in the Hub are pretty good.
I also love Nandos -lots of atmosphere, but a bit difficult to make a night of it there.
