  • Sorry to butt in on your thread but does anyone know of a reasonably priced, clean, comfortable B&B or hotel somewhere near MK10 - off junction 14 of the M1. Needed possibly for Wed, Thurday this week?

Any pointers OR places to avoid appreciated.

There's an Express By Holiday Inn about half a mile from Junction 14.

While I can't speak for this particular venue (I live in MK, so why would I stay in a hotel here LOL) my experience generally of Express By Holiday Inn in two other locations has been good.

There's also a Travelodge and a Novotel in Milton Keynes; again, I've had good experiences of both of these in other locations, but they're a little further from J14.

    HTH.

There's also a little B&B on the way into Moulsoe (I drove past it on my way to the Carrington Arms on Saturday):

The HI Express has a Harvester opposite (which is actually not a bad Harvester at all).

The Broughton Hotel's also within 5mins of the M1 but I'd pick the B&B over the pub!

    Hi MK moneysavers.

I'm looking for ideas as to where to take my soon-to-be 18 yo son for a meal. I was going to take him to the Jaipur (haven't eaten there since it moved) but having read reviews on Tripadvisor it does seem very pricey, so not sure it's such a good idea. Last time we went out we went to the Barge at Woolstone which he loved, though I was thinking of either posher or livelier for his birthday.

    Thanks

PS In case you think I'm being really boring with him, he will be doing the night out with his mates/girlfriend too.

The Living Room at the HUB or one of the other HUB restaurants, you can't beat the food and location for the HUB

Cafe Rouge (french) at the Hub is nice and you can pay with Club Card reward vouchers!

I personally like La Tasca (Spanish) in the Xscape building! Vouchers available on line I believe.

For a really lively night out you could consider Bistro Live! In the CBX building! (Meal, QUiz, Band, Dancing on tables etc.,)

    Cheers

I remember taking with my exhubby our then 18 year old son for his 18th birthday meal to the Barn, his mates and gf all turned up at the right time, we all had drinks, we waited, no son, we sat and ordered, no son, we ate no son, (get the idea, this was pre mobile phone days) at about 10.30pm, we are all back in the bar, eventually son arrives, telling everyone that he was at his gf's  said gf was with us and was NOT impressed, we left and left them to sort out the rest of the evening....................

I hope you have a wonderful evening out

Thanks for the suggestions - I'll give it some thought. I don't think just the two of us at Bistro Live would be quite right and his friends aren't 18 yet, so too young. I like La Tasca, though not sure that's DSs sort of place...

The Living Room looks nice and very grown up, so we may go there. I'll investigate the music nights... Or Cafe Rouge would be fine too.

    Thanks MKers.

If you decide on Cafe Rouge, there's a code in this weeks Voucher Codes
2 For 1 on All Main Meals at Cafe Rouge
It won't let me do the link, but put in www dot then vouchercodes dot co dot uk as one word then /go/39946/18de-cafe-rouge and hopefully you should get there.

Do you have any particular type of food in mind? I was in the Grange at Grange Farm last week with my dad to celebrate his retirement; a very nicely-decorated place and good Indian food to boot (just don't have a starter) - quiet, but relatively 'posh' for an Indian - I was impressed!
