Just to be clear - that was a post that I copied on behalf of a user called griffin0, it isn't MY son who has aspergers (although two of my nephews do)
Just go through the pages on this thread and they will have the places that have reduced entry etc. The other way is to look at the site of each place.

For Legoland I went to the Legoland site, then clicked the 'helpful hints' bit and found: 'Free admission for registered carers with documented proof of disability'. So just take his DLA award notification.

It also says about Legoland that ' If you write to them in advance of your visit and explain the nature of your child's difficulties, you will be sent a free carers pass which allows free admission for 1 parent or carer. In addition Legoland's policy for people with disabilities allows
those who are unable to wait for long periods; to go straight to the front of the queue for each ride.'
So with an autistic/AS child that should be useful! They also have a special needs leaflet you can ask for.

You can also put the name of a place you're interested in into a search engine followed by 'disabled visitors' special needs' or 'carers' and it should put you on the right page. Failing that - give a venue a call and they will be able to help out.

    Just found another one!
Alton Towers does a great deal, the disabled person and TWO carers can get in for discounted prices (currently half the price of a full price adult ticket)

To get the discounts, the site says:
    How do I purchase tickets?

You will need to provide proof of disability to purchase discounted tickets for yourself and up to 2 helpers.

It really is just a case of pick a venue and MOST will have SOME sort of discount.

Trix, my son also has Asperger Syndrome. Does this mean I can take him places like Legoland at a reduced rate? If that's the case, I was unaware of it. Do you have a list of places where I can get him reduced entry, as one of his "things" is theme parks. In fact, he never stops talking about how he's going to build theme parks when he's older, and is constantly designing new ones! He gets high rate DLA (care component). I think he's on middle rate for mobility.

are you sure about that? aren't there only low and high rates for mobility... and to get high you have to be unable or have severe difficulty with walking..low would make more sense for most people with Asperger's, as it usually refers to a need for a person to be accompanied when out & about.

My mum is a carer for my brother but not heard about the free TV licence can you supply more info?

the free tv licence is only available to pensioners over the age of 75.

Yep, you're right. Just checked - he's on low mobility and high care component.

Magoohy, give Alton Towers a ring. They'll tell you about the discounted rates for disabled people and their carers. I took my little boy there back in October . My son and the two carers with him (myself included) were given armbands which allowed us to go to the front of all the queues, too.
