  • Csarina - really just signed in to say I hope all works out for you. Is there another GP in the practice you can see? You are in my thoughts and prayers.

HM beef stew for tea, which I am very proud of as I feel v tired. Little bear now knows how to turn the plastic storage boxes upside down to stand on to get higher.

His latest activity that is causing me concern is the cot. We were planning on dismantling it at the weekend, as really it is not fit to pass on and is just taking up space in little bear's room. Having watched him trying to climb in to the thing and imagining some of the bumps he could get from that, it will have to be done tonight. He is currently watching an educational dvd which makes him chuckle, but I daren't be too long away.

But one thing made me proud. Obviously he won't say 'cat' because that would be talking, but he does have the same shriek that means cat (evil cat recognises it as his name for her). A sound came on this dvd and the presenter had to guess what made the sound 'miaow' and little bear kept letting out the shriek that meant 'cat' even though there wasn't a picture to prompt him. So he obviously 'gets' cat. All we need to do now is get him to say the word!

  • Just popping back to say Happy Birthday Crazychik!!!! Glad you are having a lovely day :)
    Also birthday greetings to MrCas.
Turfy, how terribly sad for that family.
Diva, glad you have had some communication from Tristan.

Stopped at Sainsbury's on the way home, got some lovely Yorkshire ham from the deli (had the fancies for ham & crusty bread, with branston pickle).

Oldest & youngest DD's both off out tonight (I just need to pick youngest up at 10ish), so I may aim to type work letters & get them out the way before the rest of the weekend. Then I seriously need to do some work on an essay the next couple of days. 14 weeks to go before Uni ends - the past 3 years has gone nowhere...!

WS - I don't know why these professionals are worrying about LB so much, sounds to be no more than a Stubborn Male Child syndrome. Boys are naturally lazy, and if they find a grunt or a squeak can get them a drink, a biscuit, a cat or anything else they want, that is all they will do, but as they are always hungry too, failure can bring unbelieveable results, even if it is a sound close to the real word at first.

Welcome to another battle of wills!

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?
  • Thank you donny-gal, I think I agree with you.

But while I have appointments to get to I have to get little bear out of the house and use the buses. Dear heart has managed to get the time off for little bear's first speech therapy appt, but the other times it is two buses!!!! And I am sure I can do it, it is just making myself go. So there is a good side.

As for stubborn - it runs in my family. I should be used to it by now.

I have some carrot and mint soup simmering and destined for the freezer. I am so proud of myself. Little bear was caught up in Ceebeebies, so I did what I could. He has disconnected the wires to the dvd, so I shall let dear heart pull out the huge amount of furniture to re-connect. ;)

  • Also, cannot get on with my knitting as little bear has broken one of the bamboo needles I was using (fortunately while I was in the room, pulling at a bag which I thought was safe from him). It was only a tiny sweater for the little baby due next door, so I had hoped to finish it quite swiftly. I do have further needles, but getting to those means showing little bear where they are...

Little bear has had a busy day.

I'm sitting with a slight list to the left, but not in too much pain, last night I used ibuprofen & lager & slept like a log.It was really busy at work today as I'm on a training course Mon & Tues & had to leave thing so someone else can step in to my shoes.
MSD, thinking of you & Tristan
Csarina, hope you get something sorted soon.

WS, just to worry you a bit more, my kids used to climb up the outside of the staircase & I once found one of at them at 2 yo at the top & stuck, I didn't know whether to run up, lean over & grab, or stand underneath & catch! Also despite being told many times not to, one of them ran upstairs with a fork, slipped, stabbed herself in the neck & went to school the following day proudly sporting her 'vampire bite'!
    Hugs to those in need

I'm glad you heard from Tristan MSD.
Csarina - I hope things start getting better for you soon. Hope you manage to have a relaxing weekend!
I've had quite an OS day yay! I blitzed the kitchen as planned - cleaned out the fridge and cooker, scrubbed the floor and sorted the cupboards.
I experimented with making some paneer to go with our HM curry tonight so I'll report back tomorrow - assuming I haven't poisoned us both.
Washing hung, everywhere hoovered - time to enjoy the weekend now!
I'm meeting with the local organiser of a literary festival tomorrow morning so hopefully that will lead to some interesting volunteering.
Planning a walk and a homecooked 'posh' dinner tomorrow night - making beetroot and onion tart and HM ravioli. I do love cooking - find it so theraputic!
Hope you all enjoy the weekend - hugs to ems as needs em!
