  • Hey Guys!!

Another day at work for me! Though I have done all my main paperwork, just a few files to put away and a couple of end of month reports need emailing later, but apart from that all done! So the rest of my day can be spent on here, or may get my book out to read for a bit.

Swimming last night was great, I feel so much better for going out and doing something and it's going to help me get rid of this extra weight!

Popped in Tesco after swimming and picked up some reduced bargains, packet of premium sausages, whole white cabbage, packet of pre cut ready to cook mixed veg, thyme potted plant, packet of sage, and a £5 bunch of flowers all for the bargain price of a £1 for the lot! The checkout assistant looked twice at the total when asking for payment! lol

Thing is I am unsure what to do with the thyme and sage apart from the usual - thyme roasted potatoes, add some of the sage to my stuffing etc, so wondered if anyone had any unusual new ideas / recipes?

Popped into Starbucks this morning on the way to work. Something I did regulary before Xmas as it's just down the road from my work and would treat myself on a Friday, but stopped in the New Year due to wanting to lose weight and save money! But had to pop in today to pick up some gift vouchers from my friend's bday tomorrow, as she loves Starbucks!! Anyway, I decided I would have a small coffee and ask for the skinny version! When I tried it it tasted no different to the normal one I would have, I was expecting it to taste really different! It's still no reason to start having them regulary, as they are still full of calories and exspensive, but at least I know if I want a treat that the diet version still tastes great! If I had known before perhaps I wouldnt have put on half of the weight I have done! lol

    Anyway, all for now!
    Hugs to all!

Happy birthday Crazychic, have a good one, nice to see you here again!:bdaycake:

JackieO...hope that you don't find the day too upsetting...hugs

    MSD...hugs

Silvercharming...when you are doing the best you can it is good enough, so please try to stop feeling guilty.

Turfy6.. that is so tragic, child will probably not be affected but so difficult for the poor husband...

Sybil...I agree with Donny-gal...it is impossible to do housework around a mischievous toddler...try to involve him in tidying up is the best you can do, with lots of praise for each task, mine loved being read to which was the only way I could get off my feet for a while! I feel that chicken-pox and mumps are pretty harmless infections if caught in childhood....mumps can be rather scary when caught by adult males so one I like to see little boys getting over and done with....measles and whooping cough would be the ones I would not wish for.

Anniestar....hope that Mark is feeling better now

Csarina...hope that you have been to doc and are feeling even a little better to-day...hugs

Hester...please take it easy to-day, doing too much won't help your back.

OrkneyStar...hope that meds kick in fairly fast....enjoy the mushed up cake anyway!

Beth.....see why you are 'thebee'...even thinking about what you do in a day exhausts me!

Hugs to all who need or want a hug....

Crazychick - happy birthday, I'm vvv jealous about the Snow Patrol tickets
Wannabe Sybil - theres loads of chicken pox going round my area, IMHO best to get it out of the way when they are young, in fact when ED had it @ 18 months a friend asked her to come round so her ED could get it! Worked like a dream 2 weeks later poxy child. Totally agree with you about measles, one of the consequences of immunisation is that we get complacent and forget that the reason we're immunising is because there are serious repuccusions from some diseases, Polio anyone?! Thats why chicken pox isn't widely immunised against as it has little impact if they get it young and in fact is favourable to have it young because adults with CP are in danger...
MSD - my thoughts are with you at this time.....
OrkneyStar - my sympathies for your tonsils, been there done that. I bet you feel like poo!
Turfy6 - thats awful, esp so young and out of the blue like that. As you say makes you realise and reassess priorities!

I had a major OS days yesterday, I baked for Britain, ED said the house smelt like a bakery! I made loaf of bread, bread rolls, cheese & marmite twists, cheesy biscuits, pizza pasties, cleaned the b/room, swept the floor, took ED swimming & swam 10 lengths myself (usually manage 16 but was a bit knackered, see above:D )
Today I've been to help out in ED class in school, been to drycleaners to drop of OH suit (how much money!?! ) so now I have a little time to myself before I go out for school run. Just need to clean the downstair loo and thats about it today. Dinner is corned beef hash nom nom nom, not sure about lunch, need to be good now as I've been picking at food all week and my weight loss has ground to a halt again. Pull your finger out Bunny!!!

Hope everyone has a good afternoon and look after yourself if you are struggling today, come and share with us.

    Morning all,

Kathy, oh I wish I could knit... (I have tried many times, I just really really can't get it). So are you plotting to become ex-pats now then??

Squiggly - yes, we are and very soon - too soon for me! I'll explain when we've finalised dates and so on, and, of course, sorted out a new internet provider; can't do without that. Re: the knitting; if you look on the Knit Your Square thread, Maytaurus has posted a link to loads of info including excellent tutorials for learning to knit! Try again - it really is easy when you know how!

(((Hugs))) to Jackie0, Turfy and Tristan.

    Clarabell - congrats to you!

Crazychik - Happy Birthday to you - have a great day!

Well, the weather here is gorgeous and I've got sheets and towels drying nicely at the moment. DH has an afternoon's work (and lucky to get that, lately, the way the work has dried up), so I have some peace. He's also working on Monday but nothing after that. He's done lots of quotes but people are really hanging on to their money, understandably.

Anyway, will catch you all later.

    Afternoon all :)

Hugs and get well soon to those who need it, Happy Birthday to those peeps celebrating today.

Just nipped on to have a rant. It seems we have a thief in our flats. My flatmate has been expecting a delivery of some ink cartridges for his office printer here for some time. He finally got through to the post office earlier and was told a card had been left - either when I was out on Wednesday or between 9.30 and 10 when I was at the dole yesterday. Someone apparently took the card down to the sorting office and signed his name and took the parcel. They did not ask for ID. (He always takes things with his address on and his credit cards, I take my passport and bank statements)

Not only did my flatmate and his business partner have to go out and buy some more ink yesterday at £40,they have had to take time off from their business to go down to the sorting office and create merry hell. I told them they should get the police involved as quite frankly as this "person" (ahem!) signed for it , it became fraud.

Update just in. It is actually worse than I thought. Flatmate has just rung to say that there was some ID apparently shown but the Royal Mail made NO note of what ID it was. Now my flatmate is VERY concerned as they may have had some credit card or something as you are not always told you are getting sent one apparently - they just send you one.The Police are very concerned at the Post not writing down a proper record of what ID was shown.

I am not the victim of this but I am disgusted 1.at the lowlife scumbag who decided to impersonate my flatmate - lets hope he's happy with what he no doubt thought was a Nintendo or something at 2. the Royal Mail giving our stuff away to someone. I feel like putting posters all over the flats about thieves."watch out theres a thief about" etc

A while ago I had a woman from the council asking me if a Richard someone lived here and I said no and that the current flatowner has lived here about 20 years. She said she was investigating fraud. It really makes me wonder if this is related.

    Afternoon all.

Meanmarie how’s the finger today? Isn’t it funny, when there’s something you can’t do, that’s invariably the very thing you desperately want to do?

    ((((Csarina))))

    ((((Silvercharming))))

    Happy Birthday MisterCas and Crazychick

Flippin’ eck Betheebee I nearly had to go and lie down after reading your “to do” list!

OrkneyStar it’s lovely to see you back, but sorry your tonsils are making you feel “pants”.

Turfy what an awful shock! My first thought was what about the baby – if she was out pushing the pram, did someone come to LO’s rescue?

MSDiva I’m so pleased that Tristan has emailed – smilies and flowers can say it all without him tiring himself completely.

Mr LW got on the bathroom scales for the first time inages. I'm not saying what the result was, but :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: He used to be able to go for a walk round Willen Lake at lunchtimes, but he's w*rking in Letchworth now, and there's nowhere really nice to go; I think we'll have to start getting my mobility scooter out and going for a trundle down to the Roman ruins near here at the weekends.

We've got a busy weekend; Mr M's when he gets in from w*rk tonight, Stony Stratford market tomorrow, and Olney farmers market on Sunday. Plus loads of housew*rk, I'd like to get the 2nd china cabinet spring-cleaned, and it'd be good to get a start on tidying the garden. I don't think it'll all get done though, as I'll run out of "spoons" long before that. Maybe I should try a rain dance, that'd give me a legitimate excuse for not doing the garden.:rotfl:
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

Reverbe - everytime I go to get a parcel from the office I always take ID but have never been asked for it.
MSD - so glad Tristan was strong enought to email :) I strongly believe that no matter if you refuse to go gentle into that good night, that there is always peace afterwards. It sounds like his spirit is a huge part of him and thats what your seeing at the moment.
crazychick - glad to have you back and happy birthday!
whatatwit - glad to have you back too :)
anniestar - hugs for you and mark
WS - my brother used to eat cat biscuits. He said they tasted of plastic. I really dont understand why anyone would want a little one to get measles, that's shocking.
Hester - hope your back isn't giving you too much trouble
silvercharming, you don't need a reason to feel like you do - hard as it is to accept, it just is. All those people who need things from you will just have to wait and you have nothing to feel guilty about. Hope you start to feel better soon; you can always talk to us, cheerful or not - as thats what we are here for.

Quiet day here.... six day until MiL and the voodoo arrives

Afternoon all.....................((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))) if you need one.............

Nothing has really changed since yesterday, altough to present OH has been ok. Arm dressed, it has blistered but not as badly as I first though, a dry dressing and a tubigrip bandage on it.........Dr.....worse than useless, only suggestion social services or family, can't we go and live with one of our chidlren..........excuse me it took me 29 years to get away from them.....in the nicest possible way, whilst I have breath in my body I will not be going to live with any of them, it just not fair to expect one of them to look after us........

We have come to a sort of compromise over the sewing Vs Dizzy's....Wednesday and Saturdays are to be 'my sewing days' if OH has a dizzy he is going to use the bed settee in the living room........not sure how long its going to last but will give it a try, starting tomorrow...........we did have further words before we went to bed last night and I could not sleep.....OH got into bed, put his head down and started snoring....I had too much going on in my head, including packing my bags and walking away!!! Still rather tearful this morning.........OH started on about something, I just disolved into tears.....which is not at all like me............depressed I may be, crying I do not do except at slushy, sad films etc..........then the tears course down my face and my nose snots up....you know how it is.........the only other time I cry is when I am angry, and boy was I angry last night...........steam from every orifice........

OH is cooking tea tonight...its fish and chips with garden peas.....he can manage that (I hope)

I have started on the front of his jumper.......should get it finished next week...........
    Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.
