It's not quite along the same lines Blondie, but I spent the weekend being grilled by my (skinny) family about what I'm doing about my weight. The first thing my brother said to me (after 'hello') was 'Hey mum tells me you're joining a gym!' Indicating my weight had been the topic of conversation in their household prior to my visit.
How is it possible for your mother to heavily hint that you really should be getting back on Weight Watchers asap and in the next breath ask if you'd like some crisps or nuts to nibble while the pizza cooks!?

Anyway, just needed to vent. Happy Monday everyone! :j :j

Aaah, well my uncle used to say 'Hi Laura, you've got fat' just like that. So at least discussing joing a gym is slightly less soul destroying the 'you've got fat!:rotfl: '

  • Blondie! What a read!

You've been through so much. Your positivity is inspiring. Not to mention funny! :D I hope you don't mind me jumping aboard!

I'm a fellow 20-something with a debt circa the same amount. I didn't have a job until last week (since January), but I don't have a start date yet. Don't worry - yours will come soon!

Have been with DH for 12 years but only married for 2. I have 5 cats (& 2 hamsters)! EEK!

    I come bearing kitty-photo-gifts & virtual malted milk! :D

That's just what I was thinking! :rotfl:
    I know I know but I just can't remember.

Aaaah, just checked on BBC website neeps= suede as far as I can figure out :D

    Hi,

And as Purpleroses explained, yes neeps are turnips up here! Only thing that was missing, was the whisky sauce which I don't think would go down well at work, with D&A policies and all that :D

As for the 'f' word, my mum keeps telling me to 'hold that stomach in', as if I'm not trying, what she can't tell with the red face! Bet she says yes to a late Mother's Day lunch tho:rolleyes:

OMG!! OK I'm actually starting to feel as though my rant was slightly diva-like! Compared to some people, my family are actually very tactful (in their own way). My mum has NEVER advised me to suck my stomach in!

Is D&A drug and alcohol by the way??

Yes it means drugs and alcohol - you can get called for random ones at anytime, usually a scary man taps you on the shoulder and that's it you're toast! I had one a few years ago and was panicking cos I had been eating Lockets (the cough sweets not the jewellery) - the guy was quite amused when I started rhyming off everything I had taken which may affect the test. It was ok, cos not even wine passes my lips (except for the weekend) :D

It's so slow today, getting hair cut tonight and OH always panics cos I tell him I'm getting it shaved off - really should stop freaking him out! :rotfl:

That's actually not too bad, my sis was running down the stairs one day and me and my other sis (I have 4) started falling about as if there was an earthquake - she wasn't amused :rotfl: Got her own back though, cos she now weighs about a stone less than I do (I was always the skinny one - how times change)!
