OK I have found a number and just phoned.

A very helpful man immediately said that was an overcharge and is phoning the store (luckily I remembered the names of the staff members)!

Hoping to hear back from him soon

    Number I used is

How does everybody go about their R&Rs ?

So - what is your routine when you're going for an R&R ?

If there is an item on here posted as a misprice and it is one i would usually buy i will pick it up when i am doing my weekly shop, i may pick up two if i am buying quite a bit else, i also write down the price of everything as i go on a notepad, after going through the checkout i sit down on the chair provided and check off my receipt against my notepad, if i find any overcharges i go over to the cs desk, explain i have been overcharged previously so always check my receipt carefully now and have found they have done it again, at times i have found other things that i was not aware of being a misprice! I see no point in all this acting stuff, pretending to be innocent , not know about r&r`s etc, i, along with anyone else am entitled to sit there and check i have been charged correctly, and all offers have come off etc before i leave the store, i am then entitled to go to cs for a refund even if i have done it previously, i am completely honest by telling them it has happened to me before. I think when people are trying to act innocent or make things up or tell fibs it always makes them look worse! I don`t even bother with the scanner now, i just take pot luck, if i don`t get overcharged and don`t want it after all i take it back for a refund anyway and tell them i have changed my mind, which i have. Again i am entitled to do this and i don`t have to give a reason like " well you did`nt overcharge me for it!!) :D:)

Just as a topic for discussion:

Tesco made a big boo boo about the phones, but surely it would have just made more sence to reduce the price to £39.99, cut all chances of R&R, advertise it as a promotion etc than get disclaimers etc. around the store and run the risk of potential R&R if the disclaimers arent put up.

Glad someone else thought of the same lines as me. it would have been a really good PR exercise ans also a lot less hassle for all the staff involved who to be fair were at times in a no win situation if they R&R'd they got grief from managers, if they refused they got grief from MSEr's. Bit like the beef in gravy last year with a bit of thought that could have been a gigantic publicity stunt for T's turning a negative into a positive and openly bragging about how much their customers had got for shopping with them e.g. holidays, kitchens, one little doggy going on her hols to france this year for the first time [my dog] fantastic cost effective advertising,
  • Dont you also think this Policy is a great way for Tesco's to audit their stores on performance?. For example, if Store A has produced more refunds than Store B, then Store A is obviously being managed better than B?. Perhaps this is why some stores are being so awkward about giving R+R's, expecially the Managers. Who knows.

I do the same and if I've done a full shop I go for a cup of tea then check my receipt. It looks a lot more natural even if you intentionally bought mispriced items and the cs is more pleasant.

We bought a Roast in the bag chicken today.

As it went through the checkout I spotted it went through at £3.99 instead of £2.99 the SEL stated.

We queued at Customer Services and pointed this out to the lady, she went off and came back with a Lemon Roast in the bag Chicken. I pointed out that we'd bought a butter flavoured one, and that the SEL was £2.99. She stated "Sorry, Sir, you are wrong, the only ticket for the offer is for this item"

Feeling annoyed I said to her "you are wrong"

Two minutes later holding the SEL I said "Excuse me, I'd like to show you this!"

A rather poor quiet appology and refund later, we left with our chicken and £4 in the bank!

Sunday Roast always tastes better when free!

Whilst you are correct in the fact that you were overcharged, If you walked up to the desk with a SEL in your hand, that immediately would ring alarm bells in our store and we would refuse R&R on the grounds that you could have got the SEL from anywhere or even have made it yourself (and its not that difficult). This is in no way meant to cast aspersions on your good self but to point out the dangers of customers removing shelf edge labels (aside from the fact that you may have stopped someone else getting and R&R by removing the SEL).

For example, the chicken you describe is often on a rotational promotion, its either the butter basted or the lemon & garlic that is on promotion, and many customers are aware of this. So if for example a customer were to take the SEL from the shelf in the way that you did, pocket it for a couple of weeks until the product came off of promotion, and then show it to customer service when the product was charged at the higher price what proof has the customer or CS assistant that the SEL the customer has in their hand is the one from the shelf.....

You may think this an unlikely scenario but believe me, there are unscrupulous people that will try anything to make a buck or two.

Whilst it is a way of tracking, Tesco have much more rigourous systems in place to track the pricing performance of their stores than how many R&R's were given in any one store.

Add that to the fact that an R&R is not always the stores fault it would be a little unfair to judge each store on the amound of R&R's they give.
