I phoned customer services who said they would ring the store....Went back in yesterday to take them back...They were still on the shelf DEC 05..They gave me my 32p and that was it...Is there anything else I can do about this? That's bad nearly 3 month out of date...
All stores should have a rotation planner in operation. This ranges from daily for fresh lines to weekly, fortnightly, monthly , six monthly depending on the product. Although they were right it does not negate the fact that they shouyld not have been sold. Did you speak to the CS Manager or was it the csd staff. They staff do a great job however to give more than a refund they need the authority of the CS Manager.0 -

lets not get personal about the staff they try to do a job which is difficult at times and the majority are friendly. However you will always find some who are not as pleasent as others. Put yourself in thier shoes.0 -
no, why should I? i work in a retail enviroment and am always nice to people.S!!!!horpe0

Exactly - my point - they are not the only people to have ever worked in retail both at the shop floor level as well as head office management (YES, that includes me - never in my life have I heard that the customer is to be treated badly - for whatever reason let alone for requesting a refund via Tesco's own policy on overcharges which then happens to bring out such attitude from them it is appalling what we even have to put up with it - the stores have far too much discretion over many company policies yet this is one policy which is supposed to be chainwide and shows exactly how much stores try to overrule their own corporate policy what would happen if the stores didn't have any discretion and all stores were governed by head office over all matters such as use of coupons in store - if you have been to the US you will find that staff there typically pack your bags for you and even carry them out for you to your car whilst the slightest complaint brings about the sack for the poor individual concerned even if really minor - I actually feel bad about the service I get there that I always say don't worry you relax I will do it yet what's more is that the management watch their staff like a hawk and never let them get away with standing there for one minute let alone giving added tesco value verbal grief. Here, we find that manager's actively seem to encourage staff to squirm out of a refund - why else would we be getting offered the difference even when the CS staff know full well what their own policy is? Then upon complaining to the head office now we are hearing about how much hassle people are getting - its pathetic practices from a store management that is hiding behind its employees and also robot employees that simply can't see when they are being used..for what exactly....every little helps our profits?...including adverts like "we check our prices so you don't have to" (more like don't check so that we can charge you whatever we rippin' feel like from you!) :mad:0

However there is not.
Actually as a Tesco member of staff I can confirm that they do underprice items (most likely clothing that's been reduced but not marked on the tag). But the reason there is no underprices thread is that no matter howmuch people suggest the opposite, they post misprices in the hope of others getting items free on the r&r, and there is no r&r on underprices.
Plus, people are more likely to mention bad experiances/overprices than they are on good ones and underpricesTitch0 -

If the goods were priced up correctly then there would be no reason for this thread or for you to complain.
Could you show me examples of that? I must have skimmed over them.dazco wrote:However there are mistakes that are made,in favour of Tesco.

Happens all the time. Not as interesting I guess as there is no r & r then.dazco wrote:So one can only assume that Tesco have a policy of advertising one price and charging a higher one. This is a disgusting practice and should be stopped.
If Tesco do stop the policy of a complete refund then they are freely admitting that they cannot control the prices that are charged in their stores and If this happens then I urge every MSE`er to report each individual case to trading standards
No, they do not have that policy. If they did, you would not be getting a refund. IF the r & r policy was removed (and I have never heard anything to suggest this may happen), it would bring Tesco in to line with every other retailer. R & R is over and above what anyone else offers. And I dont believe for a moment that no one else overcharges.
You certainly can contact TS, just as you can now. Tesco actually work closely with TS and I generally enjoy my visits from them.dazco wrote:Let us not forget that if tesco overcharge somebody then they are fully liable to prosecution. Which will result in a fine of many thousand of pound
Yep, if the store concerned can not show Due Dilligence thats quite possible.dazco wrote:£1 in every£8 spent in shops in England is spent in tesco.
How would Tesco employees feel if they had to pay 4% extra on all their shopping they ever did, anywhere, because they did not mind being overcharged. They thought it was fair, which they quite obviously think it is.
I for one would forego a lottery win to recieve the extra money a 1p overcharge on every item tesco sell. In the period of a month.
So please employees shoppers and supporters of tesco, please remember that every time an mse`er gets free stuff MANY people have been overcharged.
MANY PEOPLE.
Tesco are popular for sure. They took opportunities 10-15 years ago that the competition did not (back when Tesco was a very definate second behind Sainsburys).
Not sure I understand your second point.
You could argue that no one has been overcharged - that the system price is always correct and so it is the shelf edge label which is wrong. But I wont argue that 'cos thats a whole other can of wormsWho or what was I before you came in to my life

You do also realise that a million is considered a 'small' jackpot lottery win so for you to get that sort of money Tesco would have to sell over one hundred million of that item and I very much doubt that there are any items that sell anywhere near that figure in all stores, let alone in just Tesco'sTitch0 -

I totally agree that products should be priced correctly. But unfortunately, the nature of pricing is very labour intensive - and as long as humans are involved there will be mistakes. Its natural we all make them from time to time. And in an operation the size of Tesco's there will be a few mistakes for that very reason. Its by no means an excuse, but unfortunately its life.
And underprices do happen as well - in the same scale as overprices, just that you can't get anything for free wehn its an underprice so no-one highlights it.dazco wrote:So one can only assume that Tesco have a policy of advertising one price and charging a higher one. "Meanwhile back on planet Earth...." That is just total fantasy as well as being totally wrong.dazco wrote:Let us not forget that if tesco overcharge somebody then they are fully liable to prosecution. Which will result in a fine of many thousand of pound...

Yes Tesco could be in deep trouble with Trading Standards. So why don't people report them every time there is an overcharge? If every overcharge on here was reported, then I would imagine TS would be very concerned, and would come down hard on Tesco. Then Tesco may be forced to really wise up, and may get very very good with their pricing and reduce the errors.
But that wouldnt be in MSE'rs best interests would it? People always hide behind the moral argument of overcharging. But if everyone really was so concerned about the moral issues, then they'd be going to Trading Standards, and their not.... Its about getting stuff for free not morals....0 -
What does surprise me, is that I seem to be the only MSE shopper in my local Tesco. Yesterday morning I did a small grocery shop because I realised I had forgotten my money off Sainsbury coupons that Tesco advertise as accepting. I bought essentials but noted that there was a large amount of mispriced meat on a fully stocked aisle.
By 4pm I went back again (with vouchers) and selected £40 of meats - all mispriced. Earlier in the day the ailes were fully stacked, by 4pm they were almost empty.
I got my R&R for the meat (after the manager came to cast her eye over me!) but all day long people must have been paying the wrong price for theirs. That's quite a profit.
I see it as simple - don't overcharge then we don't get R&R. Take away the policy then that will encourage us to report to trading standards, which I am sure they don't want.
Anyhow, thanks for the nice meals, Mr T!Do not allow the risk of failure to stop you trying!0
