well done for the positive moves, PAD's really help a lot of folk, i sort of do something similar by saving the bits my receipts say i've saved into a different account. I've almost £200 since christmas which i'm gob smacked about, who knew it would have ever built up so much.
Do you want me to badger you into putting your volunteering expenses in? i'm good at it honest, i have to do things like that for a living so get lots of practice lol0 -
Hi guys, not been on here for a while but as it is the beginning of a new month and 6 months till the new year (I have a thing about nice round numbers) I thought now would be the perfect time to rejoin all you lovely people.
I have recently cleared out my bedroom and now have 6 bin bags full of things to go on Ebay!! I'm going to aim to put on 10 items everyday which isn't a lot but I find it sooo boring, so with this small target I'm sure I'll gradually get it all shifted.
I was beginning to feel very down with myself as everytime I updated my signature I felt I was more in debt than before. So I have set up 3 standing orders to go to my savings accounts this means that almost everyday I can positivly update my signature. I know this is not the best way to get out of debt but I feel this is the way forward for myself.
I am going to join the £10 a day challenge for this month but instead of £10 I'm going to aim for £15. I plan to count the money as soon as I have earned it even if it hasn't gone into my account. I am planning to meet this target by ebaying, surveys, mystery shopping, bingo and anything else which pops up.
Today unfortunately will not be a nsd as I am doing my volunteering tonight and also need to get some dog food. Hopefully it shall be a lsd tho!!
Have a good day everyone. xx0 -
I forgot to mention that I have decided to set myself small challenges and have certain things paid off by certain days. As in the past I have always seen my debt as one big thing and always feel so overwhelmed I just cut myself off from it and end up spending more. The first challenge I have set myself is to have my overdraft paid off by 1st October. (I hope to do this without using the money which I will have in my savings accounts). Which is currently £2,366.14. At the moment I am only receiving a part-time wage of around £600 per month and my outgoings are around £455 each month (not including standing orders to savings accounts). This is going to be quite difficult but I can't wait to begin!!

you're right breaking it into small chunks is the best way to go, i have a spreadsheet (never!) which shows me the balance on each debt, and how i plan to pay it off so that i can a)plan b) play so that i can bring my debt free date forward. It keeps me out of trouble lol0

Hi Lemon Tree I love spreadsheets 2!! I haven't worked out my debt free date yet as I have a feeling its way too far in the future! Hi TDQO how r u? U still in Oz? I've not been on here in like forever!!
I ended up falling asleep really early last night so hardly got anything done . Today however I plan to:- check online banking and update signature
- surveys
- free scrathcards
- ebay 10 items
- prepare for college interview
- interview at 1.15pm
- take clothes back that I bought last week but really don't need
- buy only what is on my list at the supermarket
- stick to my budget of £10 when I go out with my friend tonight
Have a nice day everyone!! xx0 -
good luck with the interview. Hope it goes well, do let us know.
I only calculated my DF date cos i was obsessed with getting it into 2011, i think i started with it in 2020 (at least - i never really dared calculate it to start with!), then down to 2013, and now it's 31st Dec 2011 by hook or by crook! now if only i can bring that forward that will be even better.0 -
Wow Lemon Tree that's fantastic! You've knocked 9 years off your debt free date thats quite an achievement. I think I might add this to my list of things to do today, maybe I need a shock to get moving!!
OK time for an update:
Interview yesterday was a bit of a mess! I completely forgot that the road which I would normally take was closed so I had to go a different way but got slightly lost. I knew I was going to be late so tried phoning but kept getting an engaged tone. By this point I was a horrible crying, (which is so unlike me!) sweating mess! I eventually got there 15 minutes late and thought about just driving past but in the end I just went in. There was about 15 other people getting interviewed at the same time and I stumbled in looking a right mess, I thought I'd ruined it by this point so when it came to my one on one interview I wasn't even nervous. The woman was lovely and we had a nice chat and she's put me on the waiting list as the course is full, which is great news if there wasn't another 75 people on the list.
I called my other local college to see what was happening with my application (I applied in May) and they said they have my details and will be in touch if I'm to get an interview. Things aren't looking too good so I think I'm going to start looking for a full time job where I can get the qualifications at the same time. Although I don't really enjoy my current job (part-time) I'm well within my comfort zone and hate the thought of doing something new!!
Moneysaving wise I did nothing yesterday, I don't know what's wrong with me these days as everything seems to take me so much longer to do than other people. Making and eatting dinner then washing the dishes took me almost 3 hours last night. When I'm doing simple things like this I feel like I'm doing them pretty quickly then I check the time and realise that twice as much time has past than I had expected. So today I'm making my list of things to do a bit shorter so I can try and get them completed- [STRIKE]check online banking and update signature[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]daily scrathcards[/STRIKE] 10p!!!
- check for surveys
- storecupboard lunch and dinner if possible
- ebay 3 items
- make a start at the mountain of ironing which has been piling up
- get stuck into some cleaning

sorry to hear about the interview starting out so wrong, it happens to the best of us. Maybe you'll find that getting a full time job and training via that route will work out best in the end, at least you won't be qualified in something without experience which is a double edged sword.
I think it's the heat which is slowing everyone down, i feel like i'm falling apart at the seams health wise at the moment, and generally apart from being overweight i'm as healthy as an ox, and all this seems to slow me down when i'm doing anything.
good luck with your list.0 -
Just checked my online banking and I've received a payment in from Quidco of £2.71 which was a nice suprise. Transferred over £3.90 from my everyday account to my overdraft account as I like the everyday account to be a nice round figure. Then did the same with my bills account (£3.39). On Sunday when my standing order goes into my everyday account I think I will transfer money to my different savings accounts so they all have nice round balances then that way it will hopefully be easier to keep track. I'm going to add these small amounts to my £15 a day challenge as I have hardly done anything since the 1st so I'm already £30 behind!
