Do you even watch Watchdog? Do you really think they would do anything about something so petty as a free voucher?

Yes Trashbat I do watch Watchdog when I get the chance. If it's that "petty" as you claim why are there currently 463 posts about this topic and it has been viewed over 190,000 times. I noticed that you have never posted on any other topic on the forums, only this one.

I have just received this email from CD-WOW:

Sorry for the delay in responding - we have been inundated with applications which do not meet the stipulated criteria and so we have had to sort through them manually.

Thank you for your patience. We will be sending the vouchers to qualifying entries shortly.

You may be interested in the following which I have just received from Time Out magazine. I think it clarifies the situation fully.

    Regards,
    Arthur.

Thank you for your email and please accept my sincere apologies for what has happened regarding the free CD promotion that we featured in conjuntion with CD Wow.

This exclusive offer was set up, as all Time Out promotions are, in totally, good faith, and for the benefit of our readers. The offer is not a hoax, or a marketing ploy to expand CD Wow's database, but a genuine offer to reward genuine readers of Time Out magazine with a free CD.

Unfortunately, the details of this exclusive offer were posted on a website, and therefore the number of respondents has gone through the roof. CD Wow are in the process od identifying the non-Time Out readers, hence the slight delay in sending out the 'e' coupons. These were originally scheduled to be mailed out on Friday 3 March (10 days after the closing date of 21 February). I have forwarded your email to CD Wow and if you haven't now received your coupon, then it is on the way. I wanted to touch base with you myself to apologise and explain.

I would also like to say that we carefully select third parties who we wish to work with and who we know take the interests of our readers as seriously as we do, and 99.9% of the time our promotions run smoothly. Very, very occasionally problems do occur, and like this one, we are endeavouring to resolve it, and will ensure that all genuine Time Out readers will receive their free CD. Please bear with us. Unfortunately for our readers, others may have spoilt the chance for future great deals like this.

If you would like to speak to me further about any of this, then you can call me on the number below. In the meantime, I hope you understand that we are doing all we can to rectify this situation. So please don't let this put you off reading Time Out in the future or indeed taking up our offers.

    Best Wishes,
    Sammie.

The fact i have posted only on this subject is irrelevant, i only signed up yesterday and this is my current interest on the site. That level of arguement is equivalent of saying "i'm older than you so i know better".

The fact that there are some many views and posts is what attracted me to it and only serves to highlight several points made that there are a lot of people interested in exploiting an offer that they really shouldn't.

Your point is irrelevant and you have only served to highlight a simple point made so thanks for that.

Seriously, you think Watchdog would care about a voucher? Really, i beg to differ, again. If you want to waste your time telling them and their time reading a petty complaint then knock yourself out. I on the other hand would only see it as futile, juvenile (check the rhymes) and pointless.

    Good day to you.
  • I cannot believe how this thread has developed...

It was a freebie , if you did not get it get over it
I have signed up to many a freebie on the freebie board but never received most of the freebies, have I whinged, moaned, complained to the companies involved ..no

it`s life, there are far more important things out there,

    NEXT Freebie please!
  • I agree with peeps, its's unbelievable the amount of time and energy some people will invest in moaning about a freebie they were never entitled to anyway! The only reason I'm posting is because it's a darn interesting reflection on our something for nothing culture - what'chya gonna do, claim COMPENSATION for hurt feelings and loss of a potential life altering purchase of a cd? Heck, there may be a cd out there that could do just that - so yeah! Go ahead! Take em for all they got! SUE SUE SUE. Ahem.

I think everyone here has a valid point. Granted, people (including myself) have probably tried to blag a freebie here, but isn't that the point of the forum (it is called Freebie board anyway). Loopholes are there to be exploited.

But on the other hand, I can see why TimeOut / CD-WOW are refusing vouchers, because this offer has been abused somewhat. If we dont get it, fine!!!

Just got a brief email from CD-WOW myself:-

    'Hi

Sorry for the delay in responding – we have been inundated with applications which do not meet the stipulated criteria and so we have had to sort through them manually.

    Thank you for your patience.

We will be sending the vouchers to “qualifying” entries shortly.'

So chances are the blaggers (myself included) will not get them. I certainly wont be losing any sleep about it. But CD-WOW / Timeout could have made it a bit more secure, ie, include barcode ref from magazine or something.

Great site though. And great thread!!!

Sorry if i am being dim here but I don't understand how they will sort the "genuine" entry's from the "bogus" entries, if they are just asking where u purchased it from then anyone can just say London, and a lot of ppl who have genuinely purchased it will have long since binned/recycled it - as for receipts - I don't keep magazine receipts!

Agreed Guys grow up a bit and look past your greedy eyes, look at it from a business point of view
