  • genuine timeout reader.

Hi i read timeout as i occasionally work in london. Signed up for the voucher thing with play or cd wow or someone, and then i see there a bunch of blagger and chavs signing up for this. Ok fairplay, free cd's, until you relise that no company is going to give out an endless source of vouchers, which means genuine readers of this magazine such as myself are going to lose out, to tight fisted morons that seem to use this site, and feel that they should be entitled to free stuff even when they aren't. It's greed, nothing more.
  • Im new to MSE was just browsing the forums and came across this thread.

I think it's interesting that those of you kicking off about not getting your voucher seem to be the people that are not entitled to it in the first place!

The fact that you saw the offer on this forum and not in the publication instantly invalidates your claim.

Can none of you see this?

I am in total agreement with the members on here that are saying, for instance, that there is a difference between money saving and blatant blagging.

'Money saving' would be purchasing the magazine for £2.50 and getting a CD for that cost instead of £8.75.

Also, as a loyal CDWOW customer, signing up for CDWOW entitles you to some decent promotions and discounts in the future. Even the marketing emails that those of you refering to as 'spam' are entitling you to limited availability discount stock - A FURTHER MONEY SAVING OPPORTUNITY!

No offence to Martin :money: but he, by posting this thread, has personally ruined the promotion for Timeout's genuine readership by inadvertantly encouraging violation the terms and conditions. I am truthfully surprised at the hostility towards CDWOW and the intense ignorance of this fact: The offer was open to timeout readers only and not to moneysavers/'blatant blaggers.'

Any claim to a voucher not placed by a timeout reader is intrinsically invalid.

Any reader of timeout would have known about the promotion anyway so what right do any of you have to claim the voucher without buying the magazine?

Perhaps the thread should have started "There is an offer in Timeout by which you can claim a free CD - Buy the magazine to find out how." This would then actually achieve the intended goal of extending Timeout's readership and increase CDWOW's popularity (personally i think they deserve it - every time i have ever had a problem - be it with an order or trouble on the site, they have sorted it out for me swiftly, professionally and pleasantly).

    Word to the WOW!

Boooo to you people having a stress about something so trivial that you weren't entitled to in the first place.

    That is all.

    Hi blagger

If you are a genuine customer i'm sure you'll get your voucher fair and square. I think i've figured out whats going on as my voucher just arrived. All i had to do was scan a receipt showing i bought timeout magazine. Badabing, voucher arrived ten minutes later

Kaiser Chiefs here I come (na na na na naa)
  • Hmmmm well i myself earn only £45k a year and its my yupppie (God) given right to complain about whatever i choose.... I choose the £8.75 voucher i'm not allowed to have mwah wahhhh waaaah.

Ah the irony is not lost on me.

No harm in sending emails to CD Wow if you want - but they'll be arriving in a different box from the actual orders. If you check back on this thread you'll see that people are getting "deleted without reading" messages back, so i suspect they are already not bothering to check!

    Edna,
98.5% of their orders are placed on their website and the balance by phone. You do not place orders by email.

I gave two email addresses. One was the customer service email and the other was the order progress email. They would have to read all messages to prevent losing vital emails that they have to deal with. Even if they ignore the emails they at least have to open them. Also I can confirm that they are accepting email and even replying to them. I have received replies to messages and do not agree that they are bouncing them.

Also, from a practical point of view, they do not handle any sales through the mail and some companies in this situation would simply leave their mail unopened until the problem is solved.

It's difficult to know what action is going to eventually get results so an attack on all fronts is perhaps best.

    regards,
    Art.
  • Art,

What exactly is an attack on all fronts? This isn't war, yet again i would state that IT IS A VOUCHER!!!!!!!! One that most aren't even entitled to let alone cry about not getting.

Its getting a little old now folks don't you think?

    "Attack on all fronts"......honestly.....

Thank you for your email and please accept my sincere apologies for what has happened regarding the free CD promotion that we featured in conjunction with CD Wow.

This exclusive offer was set up, as all Time Out promotions and competitions are, in totally good faith, and for the benefit of our readers. The offer is not a hoax, or a marketing ploy to expand CD Wow's database, but a genuine offer to reward genuine readers of Time Out magazine with a free CD.

Unfortunately, the details of this exclusive offer were posted on a website, and therefore the number of respondents has gone through the roof. CD Wow are in the process of identifying the non-Time Out readers, hence the slight delay in sending out the 'e' coupons. These were originally scheduled to be emailed out on Friday 3 March (10 days after the closing date of 21 February). I have forwarded your email to CD Wow, and if you haven't now received your coupon, then it is on its way. I wanted to touch base myself to apologise and explain.

I would also like to say that we carefully select third parties who we wish to work with and who we know take the interests of our readers as seriously as we do, and 99.9% of the time our promotions run smoothly. Very, very occasionally problems do occur, and like this one, we are endeavouring to resolve it, and will ensure that all genuine Time Out readers will receive their free CD. Please bear with us. Unfortunately for our real readers, others may have spoilt the chance for future great deals like this.

In the meantime, I hope you understand that we are doing all that we can to rectify this situation. So please don't let this put you off reading Time Out in the future or indeed taking up our offers.

    Best wishes

Sorry Art - perhaps I did not put it clearly before. I agree entirely with you about order placing and that was what I meant - if they chose to they could simply ignore customer service emails (as with snail mail) without it actually affecting orders.

I was basing my comments about email not being replied to simply on what others have said (most recently) on this thread. I would certainly be interested to see if anyone has had any replies this week on this matter as opposed to earlier on.

Entirely endorse your final comment - "attack on all fronts" is often the best way to wake a company up.
