Also good is the Chicken Jalfrezi. I've yet to try any of the other Indian/Thai/Chinese meals, but they are all made by Noon who also produce meals for M&S, Sainsbury's and Waitrose.
Another vote for the Thai green curry here too , very nice for only £1.29.
The Kormas are quite nice too , the Tikka was a touch too spicy for my taste but again both meals had a decent amount of chicken breast in.0 -
I have recently downsized to Aldi. These are my favourites:
Chicken Korma Sauce (jar) - better than any I've tasted, and almost as good as restaurant korma
Waffles (sweet) - fab
Scones - better than any other I've tasted
Chocolate (Moser) - both the milk and dark choc tastes as good as Lindt
Kitchen cleaner with bleach - smells a bit bleachy, but is great for the price
Deodorant (womens) - smells lovely and keeps you dry
Tinned peach slices - my (fussy) daughters fave
Yoghurts - lovely
Orange juice in bottle - as good as any premium brand
Salmon and Leek fishcakes - mmmm
apples (braeburn) - taste just as a braeburn should
chilli beef (frozen) - better than Adsa, cheaper, and you get twice as much in a packet
Wine (red) - all the £3.29 bottles are great but the Gold Country Cabernet Sauvignon and Santa Lucia Shiraz Cabernet (blue top) are my faves - deep rich reds, that you'd be paying £5 and over for in other supermarkets
New Day Honey Loops cereal - again, the fussy one likes these
Coleslaw - lovely and creamy
Potato salad - again, great and very cheap
Things which aren't so good
Pineapple Squash - leaves a strange white grittyish coating on teeth and tongue!
Cream Crackers - I thought these were OK, but the fussy one thought otherwise
Lemon and Pepper Sole Goujons (frozen) - they were a bit soggy, but then, maybe I should have cooked them longer and allowed them to crisp up.
As I try more things I'll give my feedback (and the feedback of the fussy one).:T0 -
has anybody tried the austins from aldi
its exactly like pimms although a little weaker but at 4.99 less than half the cost of pimms
your guests will never know the difference0 -
Well the title says it all. You can RSIrelands black puddings at Aldi in Manchester. May be they are not the same size as the ones we get at the Farmers market but you cant do much better than that.
Also herrings in a cream sauce at Lidl are v good.
I rate Aldi clothes washing liquid as v good - even though two of us have sensitive skin.
Aldi - wonderful microwave mini chorizos. Good on pizzas or cooked in casserole with pulses.
Aldi - serrano ham is good.
Don't like some of the cereals though - too sweet.0 -
I can honesly say I could do a weeks food shop in aldis, just wish they had a loyalty card scheme, but having said that I save £3 as I do not have to pay for bus fare to get to it.. As for there special deals at my one you can ask them how many they are getting in so will give you a rough idea how early to start queing. And mon mornings is the best time to get reduced food.♥♥♥Life is too short to wake up with regrets ♥ So love the people who treat you right. ♥ Forget about the one’s who don’t ♥ Believe everything happens for a reason ♥ If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands ♥ If it changes your life, let it ♥ Nobody said life would be easy, they just promise it would be worth it ♥0

I was reading through the Daily Mail and it raved about Aldi's day care skin creme. Apparently it's great for wrinkles and smooth skin, and the blind testers all thought it was a premium brand. It costs £1.88!!!
So I went and brought some. Only tried it today so I can't say much about it except it smells nice and goes on easily, and is meant to suit all types of skin. They also do a night creme but I havn't tried that yet.
Has anyone else tried this?:jBlagged: free samples of handwash from Molton Brown; booklet of walks from Brecon Carreg;
Free Diabetes monitor, free bee-friendly seeds, a MINI coin and a splash-proof book from Radox.:T0 -
The Aldi Frikadellan are lovely. Perhaps not as cheap as making your own, but taste v similar to swedish meatballs.0
