  • In my experience everything that is branded as "luxury" food is good and inexpensive in Lidl and Aldi: Pesto, Parmesan cheese, dark chocolate.
    f.i. in Lidl: Pesto, 180g, £0.84, Parmesan cheese, £9.95/kg

    my favorites in Lidl:
fruit and veg if it's on offer. Look out for the HALF PRICE VEGETABLE SALE!
    garlic (4 for £0.69)
tomatoes (£0.99/kg) - leave them for some days on your window sill
    demerara sugar (£0.89/kg)
luxury muesli, grape juice (£0.69/ltr), multivitamin juice (£0.79/ltr)

    my favorites in Aldi,
generally better for cleaning products, Moser dark chocolate, continental Plum tart (frozen) - absolutely delicious, parmesan cheese is here a bit nicer than the one from Lidl

I buy those in both shops:
parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese, pesto, balsamic vinegar, virgin olive oil, ketchup

Alcoholic drinks need a bit of a trial in both shops. I had a brilliant bottle of Cremant d'Alsace for New Years eve (£4.99!!!!)

We used to buy frozen boxes of Gyros in Lidl (adorable) after trying it out in Zante, but like most things in Lidl/Aldi they just disappear off the shelf never to be seen again

The luxury muesli is the best I have had anywhere and is reduced this week down 50p to 99p. Loaded up with it now.

  • Hello
Last year I bought a greenhouse from Lidl (known as a tomatoe house). It was quite large, cost around £49. I was just wondering if anyone knew the name of the manufacturers so that I could order the plastic sheeting which covers it - it looks like a large polytunnel.
    Thanks very much.
