Great ‘best value restaurant food’ Hunt

Had a lunchtime meal here over New Year. It was amazing value but mainly because the food was superb. The set menu was about 8 pounds, cant remember if it was for 2 or 3 courses, and you really would have struggled to produce such excellent food for the price never mind the time it would take.
I suppose what made it better was that I had never been to Shrewsbury before and stumbled across the restaurant. This wasnt cheap food but was great value for money.
Another restaurant I can highly recommend which i find good value is Oddfellows in the Boat between Walsall and Lichfield. Not cheap but I think it is good value for what you get served. I had crab thermidor last week for £9 - no way I would even try making that at home. They also do a lower priced lunch menu which I am told is good.

Not really restaurant but I really hate paying a lot for a sandwich when I'm out so if in need I go to a baker's and get a Belgian bun -nomally 60 -70p and just as filling.0

If you are prepared to be seated by 6.30 p.m., Brewers Fayre Restaurants offer 2 meals for £9 from a limited number of main menu items, and the quality and service at our local BF (Epsom) is excellent for the money.0

I also graduated a few yrs ago from Durham and I agree with TrickyDicky - NumJai is the best Thai restaurant I've ever been to, and the lunchtime offer makes it great value.0

Gafffe - thanks for this, will be in that area and wanted something a bit different to eat lunchtime during our weekend and this looks likely - a change from burgers etc. !!Greta - thanks again.

Crown Carverys gets my vote too! (We go to the Old Quay in Parkgate, Wirral)
5 of us normally go, and for a meal plus a drink each (which varies from a pint to a J20) it costs just under £26 which is a bargain!
Now I'm starving, I could just murder a plate of their roasties with gravy all over them, YUM YUM!Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
The Flaming Dragon chinese buffet restuarants (e.g. Castleford, Nottingham, and Sheffield) are excellent value. They do an all you can eat buffet (including a good range of starters and desserts), for just £5.90 (adult) or £2.50 (child). Drinks are charged extra, but are normal pub/restuarant type prices so are not excessive. www.flaming-dragon.co.uk
They also have some other restuarants in the chain (e.g. Birmingham, Worcester, Gloucester) but prices vary so check their website for details.0 -
Hate to give away a secret but I often go to Umami in Manchester for their lunch express offer, a starter and main for £4.99, plus a green tea is about a £1 but unlimited! Food is very nice, service is great and the food comes out quick too.2p off is still 2p off!0
