Trust me, out of the many things I'm feeling, brave certainly isn't one of them! I've sat and sobbed, howled, asked the thin air why we keep being tested like this.....

I think I've cried myself dry over it to be honest. The thing I'm more stressed about for him isn't the going to court bit, it's the OR interview. I'm also terrified that he'll get a BRO/BRU, even though I've heard that they're not as scary as they sound.

This waiting lark is a killer though - I wish we'd known it was a 3 week wait in our area earlier.....

  • Excellent thread - I'm going to direct my missus to it as she will be in a very similar situation soon!

  • Hi RR,

Great thread...I know how difficult it is & although I tried I could not deal with it at all...when my OH went BR I ended up having the breakdown !!!

Keep calm & let the stress out...plenty of fresh air & talking. Don`t do as I did & bottle it all up.

Two weeks tomorrow, the fella goes BR *fingers crossed*.

I had a calm week last week for the most part. I got a clear definitive answer that the LL can't get us out of the flat until the tenancy is up (September), so that calmed me down a lot. That said I've not been sleeping well though.

We were supposed to be going over his paperwork over the weekend, but that fell by the wayside. It's not as if he's going BR tomorrow though - we have two more weeks to get it dusted.

I woke up yesterday morning, realised it's now this month he's going BR and felt sick and panicky. I felt it a bit this morning too. I'm not freaking out, but I do get angsty if I think on it too much.

Selfishly I'm just impatient to get it over and done with now.

Oh yeah - there will probably be CCJ papers from one of his creditors landing on the mat in the next two weeks before he goes BR - if he just writes on them that he's going BR and could he have a suspended order, would that be enough to halt the CCJ?

We also found out amusingly that he took out insurance on all of his loans. If that insurance was mis-sold, not only will the banks lose the money they leant him in the first place because he can't afford to pay anything back and we have no assets, but the OR can go after the banks and reclaim the insurance cost, so they lose even more! Oops!

I hope this stream of drivel is still useful to people. Have a good monday all!

    @ Dalip,

He's doing ok - we both get snippy with each other, and it's happening more and more as it's getting nearer. I know he's stressing about it because his back is giving him grief loads at the moment - he gets really tense when he's stressed and it screws his back up.

Apart from that he's ok. He got me to update our budget spreadsheet today on excel so we can see where we'll be once the BR money has been withdrawn. It's going to be a tight month, but we'll be able to do it. Oh yeah, he's also a bit miffed because there are two shows on at the NEC this month that he wanted to go to, but can't.

He's not said much about it apart from persuading me to put off polishing up his paperwork and checking that we're going to be able to eat once the fees have been withdrawn. He was however rather amused at the bank charges ruling in the court (one of his debts is almost totally down to bank charges), and the news that banks can get a royal ticking off for mis-selling loan insurance (he had insurance on all of his loans).

I think he just wants it over and done with now, understandably so. I'm doing my best to be supportive, hold him, comfort him, not molest him too much (stress takes its toll there too), and generally listen and hold his hand when he needs me. That's all I can do really!

    @ dalip,

I've stashed some money away so I can take him for a pint of guinness (it being st patrick's day when he goes BR and all), and then dinner at our favourite restaurant. As long as we don't have sake, we'll be fine!!
