Speed doesn't kill.....Inappropriate speed, Inexperienced speed and stupidity kill.....
I am the first to hold my hands up to speeding occasionally and anyone here who says that they don't is full of it or drives a Rover Metro on Sunday afternoons only.
Speeding is an emotive subject and I think that really people need to reign it in a bit. We all have differing opinions just as we all have differing driving abilities. Nobody will ever agree and whilst 106mph in some peoples eyes is excessive, again it depends on the circumstances.....
I think everyone needs to agree to disagree on this one and just give the OP the advice he came for!!!!
I think the OP is long gone, and good luck to him say I.....

Have you mistaken this for the 'random Daily Mail headline generator' thread??? :rotfl:
That really is very good :T
Anyone doing more than the "maximimum allowed speed" usually gets slaughtered by the Righteous amongst us.
Oh to be as perfect as they.Shaun0 -

Ok, as youve just complimented me, I wont use quite as sarcastic language as I usually would.
.
Seriosuly though, I dont think Im perfect (I know you werent speaking just about me though), I just see the hideous consequences of bad driving on an almost daily basis, and then have to deal with the fallout from the family of the injured party(ies) aswell. Again Ill say that I dont agree with the mantra 'speed kils', however, from experience, it is exactly this that causes the accidents in the first place. Although I know it isnt necessarily the speed itself, but more the inapropriateness of it.0 -

I'm still waiting for the race card to be played tho...
Yep, i've done 120mph in the past...a couple of years ago, but would never do it again, licence means too much now. What's the "race card" got to do with this?Founder member MSE Jet Airways Mile High Club

I suspect he will be banned and so he should be, I drive all day at work and have done for 26 years. I keep to the speed limit and have never had a ticket. As for motorways,I'm the guy who you see burbling along at about 65 on the inside lane with the road clear ahead of me and all the other motorists thrashing in the outside lane bumper to bumper.0

I have to admit to being caught doing 103mph when I was younger, but because it was 3am in the morning on an empty M5, they let me off with 3 points and a fine. The traffic officer did say that had it been a busier road/time of day, then I would have been banned. Seems there are 'shades of grey' where the law on speeding is concerned, or maybe it's at the discretion of the officer in question"a workman, even of the lowest and poorest order, if he is frugal and industrious, may enjoy a greater share of the necessaries and conveniences of life than it is possible for any savage to acquire."0

You MAY think you are a good driver but what about the crap driver doing 50 who swerves out into your path changing her Take That CD?
Better Roads, safer cars, all rubbish arguments. The roads are still frequent by drivers who aren't half as good as they think they are. Disabled or notIt's taken me years of experience to get this cynical0 -
My opinion is that it's a fair cop. Don't exceed the limit and complain when caught.
However, I don't regard 106 as a certain death.Happy chappy0 -
