Better Roads, safer cars, all rubbish arguments. The roads are still frequent by drivers who aren't half as good as they think they are. Disabled or not
I completely agree.... All take That fans are crap drivers. :rotfl:
*Was also going to mention something about the use of the word 'her', but thought I'd save that particular grenade for some other thread.

That "one more" implies there have been previous drinks. I've never taken an alcoholic drink, even just one if I'm driving.starstruck1 wrote: »To all of you "flog him and hang him" merchants well done. It must be fantastic to live your lives without EVER breaking the law. Not even having "just one more" and driving home ?
Which is worse - a 50year old driver with 30years experience driving the BMW M5 at 106mph or a 17year old with days experience driving his saxo/clio/corsa/enter ned car of choice at 106mphstarstruck1 wrote: »You do not know any of the prevailing conditions, apart from the fact he was doing over 100 mph.
Was it 2.00 am on an empty Motorway ? irrelevant
Was he driving a car capable of over twice the speed he was doing ? irrelevant
Is he a driver with many years experience of high power vehicles ? irrelevant
You do not know any of these answers.
Your logic says the ned is worse....even though they've committed the same crime...so the ned should be more severely punished? both should have the maximum punishment available imposed on them.starstruck1 wrote: »But then again that probably doesn't matter to you, he was speeding and should be shot.
Many on here bleat about getting caught without an MOT and how they are so hard done by.
Not shot but punished to the maximum. And as for the MOT - yes i agree maximum punishments all round. Even if the test only guarantees the roadworthiness on the day of the test, then at least a yearly test would eliminate cars held together by rust or welded together. I accept that a blown bulb after leaving the test centre means the car is not roadworthy but the MOT will have checked the structural integrity of the vehicle, brakes etc....the REALLY important parts and therefore make the car safer on the road.
meet? not sure what you mean....but both could be considered dangerous given the prevailing conditions regardless of speed limit.starstruck1 wrote: »Let's put it this way, making wild assumptions as seems to be in order -
Would I rather meet a BMW 5 series doing 106 at 2.00 a.m on a Motorway or an untested 13 year old Nova at 29 outside my child's school I know which one I'd go for.starstruck1 wrote: »Give the guy a break
His break was driving at such excessive speed and not being in a collision or having a major mechanical failure/blowout which could have resulted in his and others serious injury.....or worse.

Can't say I'm familiar with your child's school, but if I was to have one of them crash into me I'd definitely go for the Nova at 29.
People know that driving over 100mph is usually an automatic ban. If you need your licence for work then don't take the risk - do 90mph instead and put up with the extra two minutes it will add to your journey time.0 -
As you quite rightly say, we all break the law from time to time. I myself am guilty of creeping up over the speed limit on a motorway, which is why I previously said that I would have more sympathy if he had been caught at 80 or so. T.
Has anyone ever been done for going 80 mph on the motorway?
90 for that matter?
On my commute to work the outside lane is usually at a constant 90! :rotfl:0 -
Well seeing as how the effective speed limit on the motorway is 79mph (70 + 10% +2mph) the police don't bother unless you're doing, I would guess, 85 plus. I recall watching a police chase type programme in which the policeman was gunning people, someone was clocked at 82/83 and he said it wasn't fast enough to bother with. If that helps!Has anyone ever been done for going 80 mph on the motorway?

I'm still waiting for the race card to be played tho...
If it was a race he's in real trouble.:D

Why is everyone in such a rush?
I drive 25 000 miles a year to work, a long commute I know. Most of it on the M25/M11 and 406. The best decision I made was to slow down and save fuel. Ive cut my fuel bill by at least a 100 quid a month, straight into my pocket. Its far less stressful too, sitting 2ft from someones bumper must carry as degree of stress, and prove fatal in sudden braking.
Slow down, you save money, you may save a life and possibly extend yours.:beer:0 -
He will be banned and thank god!
To the OP how would you feel if you had broken down on the hard shoulder of the motorway and some driver had lost control because of the stupidity of doing 106mph and crashed into you possibly killing you or your family. Would you be happy about that?
Look at recent months gone by when people have been txting or on the phone who have crashed into innocent people on the hard shoulder killing them I can remember 3! That could of easily happened. How would it of been if he wasn't caught by the police and carried on doing 106 mph where he could of aquaplaned and killed himself??? You would feel sad that you lost a nephew imagine if he had done that to someone elses nephew?? The police saved his life at the end of the day and hopefully they will teach him a lesson.
No matter how many high powered sports cars someone has drove doesn't make them invincible to the point of speeding on the motorway weather has to be taken into account. The slightest mistake and they would be dead.
Speed kills end of he's stupid. In what sense is he disabled? And if he is that disabled should he be driving or be doing that sort of speed??0
