And you know the circumstances?
Speed isn't as dangerous as it is made out, inappropriate speed is.
Our lovely government, reduces speed limits on our motorways during times of congestion (under the banner of reducing the pollution) but during the night or at times when the motorway is very quiet, the speed limit introduced in the 1960s is still enforced. With modern cars being far more advanced than those in around in the time when the speed limit was introduced perhaps it’s time that our motorway limits were reconsidered.0 -
Keith I have had my share of speeding tickets ands I have escaped on a good number as well and if it was me I would be fighting it tooth and nail.
However I am not impressed when the disabled trump card is played.0 -

was the 106 mph speed necessary, i think not, why should the offender try and get away with a ban/fine being imposed0 -
I'm pretty sure that needing a car for work is no reason for your nephew not to be banned, but him being disabled might be.0

I believe he will be shot and the cost of the bullet and the executioners wages will be charged to his family.
Or at least thats what would happen if it was up to some people on here.0 -
Take a look on the speedtrap bible website.
A ban is likely.
If he was on a clear motorway then I don't have any outrage concerning the speed.Happy chappy0 -
Perhaps, and I'm not trying to moralise, but if he was somehow 'punished' for excessive speeding, this might be enough of a deterrent to prevent him from doing it in the future. Potentially saving his life.
I agree with some of the other posters though, and don't think disability has anything to do with it.
Perhaps if he was upfront and acknowledged straight away his mistake the penalty may be more lenient than going to court, but I'm not an expert.0 -
Anything more than 30mph over the limit is an automatic ban. I dont know whether being disabled is grounds for mitigation, but I dont think it should be. Im not being prejudice, I just think that everyone should be treated the same. After all, the fact that he was driving so fast had nothing to with his disability, so why should that influence what punishment he gets.
I might be a bit more sympathetic if he were caught at 80 or so, but 106 is just stupid. He deserves to have the book thrown at him IMO.0
