Caught speeding 106mph on motorway
Nephew was stopped by the police for speeding on the motorway. He was clocked at 106mph. He is disabled and depends on his car to get to work.
I told him that it is normally a ban or a very stiff fine if caught doing over 100mph on the motorway.
Am i right? What has he to look forward to?

Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems
Well at least i learn something on the way

I believe that he will lose his licence straight away with a lenghty ban .Thank god for the rest of us.Life is short, smile while you still have teeth0

Almost definately a ban of between 1 month and 6 months.0

If he really needs his car for transport and work he’s in with a chance of escaping a ban, get a solicitor and preferably one that specialises in motoring offences
www.pepipoo.com might be worth a visit for some judgement free advice0 -
Perhaps if he depends on his car so much he should adhere to the law. 106 mph is well over the limit

6 points and a ban up to 56 days according to that link above
Plus insurance may go up mind you if its a motorability car it may be different0 -
https://www.5ive-o.com can also be quite a handy site for information in regards to speeding/traffic stuff, it's run by (amoungst others) traffic cops, and has various people including at least one current magistrate who generally give unbiased advice as to what the law is, the current guidelines they are working to and what to expect.
Pepipoo can be quite good on some aspects, but some of the advice is sometimes based on parts of law that are either out of date, or in some cases out of context/misunderstood.
In short I would suggest the op's nephew visits both.0 -
he will probably get let off with a fine as he is disabled, although you would hope that he would get the same punishement as everyone else as he is just as likely to kill someone as everyone else0

Here here! I took a six month sabatical from driving a few years ago and I needed my car for my job I had to go overseas for a year. Why should being disabled have any affect on the punishement?
The other thing to is if he was recorded at 106mph he was probably going faster and his speedo would certainly have been reading more than 106mph.0 -

Pls be nice to all MoneySavers. There's no such thing as a stupid question, and even if you disagree courtesy helps.
Lets keep all our personal feelings to one side and answer the OP's question.
IMO, a ban will probably be the most likely outcome unless he wishes to fight it. In which case, that throws open a whole different set of outcomes.'' A man who defends himself, has a fool for a client''0 -
