Unless your nephew is a footballer he'll be banned.

  • If the offender admits it quickly ans says how silly it was of them then they will get a leff hefty fine/ban.

However I can't see anyone being let off cos of a disabilty, as it could be questioned that if a person is disabled and unable to have full control of ones car and speedo reading then should they be driving at all...?!

I'd deffo place the race card tho!!

Well I'm sorry but its people who drive like idiots that kill innocent people, and the less people like that on the roads the better as far as I'm concerned. Disabled or not. End of.

I agree with the above poster - his disability is irrelevent imho, but the fact is he was doing over 100mph and could have quite easily taken a few lives had he lost control of his vehicle - he deserves a ban

If he needs the car for work why on earth was he risking his licence?
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

I have an uncle who was taken to court for over 100mph walked out with a fine and 6 points was his first offence in 55 years of driving but the 3 lads that went before him all got banned!

So all the moralisers would be content if the OP's nephew had been doing 70 in driving rain or thick fog cos it is not illegal?
    I think....
  • I think they would. Some people want to drive in Germany and see how things are done there. 106mph is laughably slow.

106 is very clearly illegal. We are not talking about a wee bit over the limit, we are talking about over 50% over. That is willful law breaking and he had good reason for doing that speed he deserves the going punishment. I agree that 70 in think fog would be stupidly dangerous, but the limit needs to be set somewhere, and it is generally enforced with a certain amount of flexibility.
