Id advise updating and scanning with all your security programs alternating weekly until your sure your machines clean (Malwarebytes one week, avira the next etc)

Once your happy its clean then run Avira monthly and the others carry on alternating weekly :)

i used loads of different types to clear my problems, no one software fixed everything.
AVG is excellent, as is AVAST. Sygate personal firewall has never let anything through either. cant comment on spybot, last time i used it was ages ago and i found other to be better

Id advise you do as it will stop a lot of the adaware that youve had and weve just cleaned (But you must keep using the IMMUNISE feature as you update)

AVG 8 has had a TON of problems this last year (And its definitions files are way behind Aviras) and Sygate is full of 'leaks' due to no longer being updated

Spybot immunises your 'hosts'. Which means if you were to go on certain webpages WITHOUT it, youd get infected. Immunising will stop them in their tracks

The SCAN feature is similar to SAS and MALWAREBYTES (But worth doing in case theyve missed something)
