    Hi Lucy,

This older thread might give you some ideas:

    Porridge Oats

I'll merge your thread with that one later as it helps to keep all the suggestions together.

    Hi

I use 1/3 oats and 2/3 flour in crumble mix.

I know its not much to offer but if you use a mix of everybodies idea you should get through them quickly.

The only thing that comes to mind is flapjacks...never heard of cheesy ones though. :D

The Cranks Recipe Book has a recipe for cheese flapjacks.

Can't get it onto MSE until Monday, but will dig it out over the weekend if you like.

    Don't suppose it'll be low-fat, though...

Well this is a receipe I use for oats.

    150g Butter - I use Stork
    50g Golden Caster Sugar
    4tbsp golden syrup
275g Rolled oats - I use Smart price oats which are fine, 1kg bag for about 40p

Preheat the oven to 190c/fan170c/gas 5, grease and line a shallow 20cm square tin with baking paper, mines 23cm

Put the butter, sugar and syrup in a small pan over a low heat and stiru until butter has melted. Stir in the oats and press mixture into the tin, bake for 20 minutes or until just golden at the edges.

Leave to cool completely until you turn out and cut into pieces.

I tried to make these sort of things a while ago and it was a disaster. How thick should they be? What should they feel like on the top when they're ready? Can you add things to them e.g. cherries, coconut?

    Chop apples into 16ths.
    Lay in oven-proof dish
Sprinkle with spice - cinnamon, nutmeg, whatever. No sugar needed.
Bake in moderate oven til soft and transclucent (ie til lots of the juice has evaporated) about 30 mins.
    Make flapjack batter
Spread thin layer of flapjack batter on top of fruit.
Bake in moderate oven for 20 mins to flapjack is cooked nicely.
Enjoy hot or cold with custard/yoghurt/cream/ice cream if desired.

I'm tempted by the hobnobs...the problem is I made some walnut & ginger flapjack stylie things yesterday and they had loads of butter and sugar in em. I think I've fallen off the slimming world wagon a bit :o so much for shifting the 2 stone of post-baby bulge (I am breastfeeding though, you need yer energy, eh...?! :p Ahem...).

I've printed off all the recipes, and found these on my travels

    http://www.grainmiller.com/Breadmaker-Recipes.html

a couple of these have oats in, one with honey and the other is just oat bread.

I hope my bm can take it, it's been non stop since I bought it! (probably more 'bread bulge' than 'baby bulge' tbh....)

    Thanks for all your replies!

Stupid question coming up...is cake flour self raising flour?

This sounds lovely. Butter is necessary to keep your joints oiled though, isn't it?

I will try these (minus bacon as I haven't got any in!) and let everyone know!

Will be tomorrow as I had minor surgery on my head today (no comments please!) and when dh comes home soon I'm leaving him downstairs with the kids while I lie down and dream about scones/hob nobs/what to do with the new found space in my cupboard, lol!
Seems like oatmeal is the same as porridge oats whizzed up, which is fab! :T

    Thanks again everyone!

    Hi Lucy,

I don't think that cake flour is the same as self raising flour, I had a quick look on google and found these links:

    Cake flour

    Cake flour substitue

I hope your head feels better soon.
