Oats can be used to bulk out mince and pastry.
I could make it better myself at home. All I need is a small aubergine...
I moved to Liverpool for a better life.
And goodness, it's turned out to be better and busier!0 -
I cannot believe that noone has said 'Twinks Hobnobs' yet..
there, said it now! (OK, so it's sweet, but they are delish and easy.... and they use 8oz per batch..)
or..... put in 'oatcakes recipe' into google, loads of them, al slightly different, can be served with cheese!0 -

he he, was just thinking that, but not sure that they fulfil the OP's criteria:
ie they are not healthy and contain loads of butter!!!
Maybe we could convince Lucyeff by telling her how many weight watcher points there are in each biscuitGetting Married 19/02/110 -

Yes indeedy, as soon as I saw 'too many oats' I thought Twink's hobnobs. Even if you don't use all the oats on them you should use 8oz. Boy are they fab.0

Well this is a receipe I use for oats.
150g Butter - I use Stork
50g Golden Caster Sugar
4tbsp golden syrup
275g Rolled oats - I use Smart price oats which are fine, 1kg bag for about 40p
Preheat the oven to 190c/fan170c/gas 5, grease and line a shallow 20cm square tin with baking paper, mines 23cm
Put the butter, sugar and syrup in a small pan over a low heat and stiru until butter has melted. Stir in the oats and press mixture into the tin, bake for 20 minutes or until just golden at the edges.
Leave to cool completely until you turn out and cut into pieces.0 -

this is a good way of using up any apples lingering in the fruit bowl.
slice up the apples no need to peel if you dont want to nor do you need to add sugar to the fruit. next just make up the usual crumble mix but add about a cup of porrage oats instead of some of the flour. cant give you quantities as i just throw this together. can be frozen uncooked then used as required. tastes great with budget vanilla ice cream.Teamwork means.......never having to take all the blame yourself0
