Told my mum i signed up for the OU course and she was really negative and said some nasty things. I know i didnt like the last course but this is a new one and i will do the work, Im not going to talk to her about it now. I kinda regret signing up for it now. I was so positve when i got home.
All that money.
:grouphug: to you my lovely. Not sure how much help I can give as I don't know the situation but did you get stressed when doing the last course? Sounds like she might be worried for you. Are you only regreting signing up because of the discussion with your mum? Just an idea, but may be worthwhile putting all your thoughts down on paper - the negatives and the positives. You could even show your mum at a later date when things have calmed down?
Just a suggestion, sorry not much help but try and keep positive; you have done so well recently.

To lose for the big day (lb) 2/510 -
Hi all, can't believe half - term is over already. Haven't had a very productive day, but it was cheap!
1) NSD - and on a weekend too!
2) OH took us out for lunch to our favourite place.Yum.We used to go there for lunch practically every week but due to cutting back haven't been since before Christmas, and definitely appreciated it all the more for that.
3) Went with OH and T to shops, but didn't buy anything. What's more, I didn't want / need anything! Maybe I am learning after all:rolleyes: .
4) Checked online banking and actually seem to have enough to last me til Thursday ( payday). Usually I would have run out of cash by this point in the month. :j Any left over Wed night will go straight on the CC.
5) Scratch x 10p
Sleep tight everyone and see you tomorrow.

I used to work for the OU. It used to be the case (not sure if it still is, but you can check) that you could withdraw from a course and not lose any money right up to the time when it actually starts. Ring student services and ask - they are very helpful. That is, if you really don't want to do the course. You could always talk to an advisor and discuss it. Unless the course actually starts now, you probably have some time to think it over. It always amazed me the number of people who had changed their minds and did not want to do the course, who did not bother to ring and withdraw, and therefore lost the money  - even if i tried to talk them into doing so!0 -
Thanks Mrsaudus and co, i was doing another 2 courses back then at the same time and didn’t give the commitment i should have. And i didn’t like the OU style, but its changed a lot recently. Im just trying to better myself to get another job. I don’t want to be stuck in a control room all my life. I don’t think she will see my ways.
DawnW...i really do want to do the course. It will keep me busy and its such a good topic. I think i will do well in this one. It seems she’s actually jelous of me doing it because she wants to do course but doesn’t have the money, even though ive offered to pay.
I don’t go out much, i don’t drink, smoke or anything and uni is what i spend my money on. Its my choice. It just got me so angry. Ive even made a small part of the fees with some overtime in may.

Evening everyone!
Today has had a gardening theme to it, much like yesterday...so I have -
- Planted onion sets
- Planted garlic
- Made raised area for carrots
- Planted the bushes neighbour gave us with neighbours help. We're not wimps, one was HUGE!
- Tidied area around the old rockery (which will become my new strawberry bed).
- Swept paths and patio.
- Storecupboard meals
- One YouGov survey.
- Daily clicks, must do free scratchies in a min.
Now everything has been fully laid out in the garden we can see how much room there is left for more veggies. DH has voted for spring onions and the kids want beetroot. The potatoes are chitting ready for planting in a couple of weeks. Still debating what else as they'll be room! DH also wants salad leaves but I'll grow them in a trough and herbs will be in pots as will the peppers and tomatoes. Some fruit maybe?

Don't know if anyone follows the chat thread, but I walked out of my job today. Feel liberated because of it, but also realise it was a bit silly coz the new job doesn't start for a few weeks. However, in saying that, I have plans to keep myself ticking over for now and I just couldn't stand one more second in there.
Have done that a few times blackruby:o Good for you though, sometimes its more about our mental well being than money factors. Not the best time to do it in this financial situation but sometimes things become so much that something has to give. Thinking about how i felt, i bet you feel pretty great at the mo, blended in with a bit of worry!!
SM, forgot to say, sorry about your daughter, glad she is ok and at least nothing is broken, although won't be much fun for her for the next week. Can't imagine how frustrating that must be for her.
Thanks for everyone's kind words about the pamper party, have been doing lots of work on my business today and at least it has renewed my passion even further for that!!
Skint student nurse, great amount at the car boot, well done you
Lemma, thats awful about not being paid and must be very worrying, hope something gets sorted out soon
Tallie, don't let others put you off doing something if its what you want to do, sometimes other people try and put their views onto us even if it is meant in the best way, but only you know what is right for you. As people say, do what makes you happy!!:D
Other things i have done today:
-Read book for free entertainment
-Read free gardening mag which gave me some good gardening tips
-Sorted out one of my cupboards and found a load of stuff to freecycle, great to get things used up and sorted out
-Have sorted out a load of obs for child study
-Uploaded shop and scanner
-Started writing out what i am going to put on pregnancy section for website
-Spent 30mins working on marketing business
-Looked through 1001 great days out book for ideas on what cheap things to do
See you all tomorrow:j Live on £4500, £2531/£4500:T 101 in 1001 (52/101):j:beer::j

Tallie if your mum is on a low income/benefits she will get her course fees paid if she wanted to do a course, and usually get a £250 a year grant towards books etc too.0
