Hey all! Long time no speak and all that!
I seem to sort of come and go from this thread in stages, but keep telling myself to keep up with posting regulary as reading everyones post as well as posting my own is a great boost to my day, so I really must keep it up!
Doubt if anyone remembers me! I haven't posted in agesssssssssssssss! :rotfl:But hi to everyone! Hope everyone is having a good start to their weekends?
I have just got back from a week in Butlins with the kids for half term, so have lots to do around the house! I did actually try and sort the house out before we went so I wouldn't have much to do on our return, but the house still seems a mess! Perhaps someone came in and had a party when we were away?
Our week away was really good! The weather held out most of the week, little bit of drizzle on thurs morn but apart from that it was fine, which is good for February and the weather we have been having recently! I expected it to rain all week or to get snowed in! lol
Today I am going to pop out with a friend to town as it's her birthday next weekend, and she insists we dress up in fancy dress  So going to pop to the fancy dress shop to pick a theme! Will probably pop to Asda on the way back to find some bargains!
Not sure what to do for dinner today, thought whatever it is it will be healthy! Have eaten too much junk all week whilst at Butlins and I am meant to be on a diet! Am dreading stepping on the scales this week, because I am sure all the good work I have done losing weight recently will be undone after my week of indulgence!! Must get back to the gym this week!!
N9eav - Can I ask about the travel card you mentioned in your post? I am in Cornwall too and didn't know about local travel cards, how do you go about getting one? Thanks xx
All for now guys!

Good afternoon everyone,
I've not had a chance to read today's thread yet but will try to catch up later on. I've been to the launderette this morning and have clothes and sheets hanging outside and in on the airers. And that is the extent of my OS so far today.
I'll be making a cottage pie for dinner tonight so need to brown my mince etc soon. I put lots of mixed veg in with mine to bulk it out and make a one dish meal. Breakfast was skipped and DH made himself a sandwich for lunch.
Not sure what we'll do with the rest of the day but am sure we'll find something to keep busy at.
Annie I was so aggravated last night. Got a phone call just before the show started and couldn't get off the phone. I did manage to catch the very end and will watch on iplayer later on. Now, no more comments on wide screen tv etc young lady <said in my best mum voice> You are a beautiful, vibrant and confident woman! Now who could ask for more than that?
Jimmi Welcome! We have a couple of other fellows that post here also. All are welcome in this friendly community.
(((((((Morwenna))))))) My condolences to the children and you. Lots of gentle hugs and prayers for you all. Please let us know if we can help in anyway at all.
MrsMx Welcome, I'm very glad you've joined us. I also lurked for a while before joining in and received great help by just reading. Now I panic if I miss a day here.
Have a nice rest of the day all.
Peyton xxTake the first step.
Even if you cannot see the whole staircase,
Just take the first step.

Woohoo! Avon books are out! Now I just need to sort the deliveries, and the new books, and my returns... well, the books are out anyway
I might go and do a bit of gardening, the weather here is fab today. I'm feeling all sunshiney and I think I'll plant out my baby broad bean plants and my new raspberry and blackcurrent sticks. I'm also thinking I'll pick some of the cabbage leaves as spring greens and make something with that, the last of the sprouts, and the rest of the edible broccoli. I've not decided what exactly yet, but something.
And I still need to make my cheese sauce - I'm going to freeze some sauce on it's own and make up some macaroni cheese or similar. Dave won't eat it for reasons best known to himself. Maybe if I add enough 'extras' he won't realise what he's eating. Bargainbird has also given me the idea of making up some stilton sauce for pork, which I can freeze - thanks! Also I'm also bracing myself to see if my first ever batch of home-made bacon has worked, or whether I'm about to poison myself...
Reverbe - Good luck with your volunteering this afternoon, it sounds like fun! And very interesting too. :grouphug: You don't ever have to feel bad or silly about being sad, it sounds to me like you've got good reason to be. I hope you feel better soon xx0 -
I thought I'd drop back in as I have finally managed some OS stuff.
2nd lot of washing is drying on the line, DW finished & emptied.
I checked the cupboards & all I needed was pepper, tea bags & eggs as we are having the last ones for lunch, so I went to the local shop & bought pepper & tea bags, I'll get eggs from the egg lady when she comes round tomorrow.
Glad you had a good hols BB
I'm going to strip the bed & vac round next.
Breakfast - porridge
Lunch - scrambled eggs
Tea - picky tea, pork pies, cheese, crackers, pickled cabbage etc
Have a good day.
Hugs Hester

Hi everyone
A very big thank you for all your kind messages. :A
I think we are all still shocked, he was only 45 and the children had only seen him the night before. He apparently collapsed on arrival at work. DD1(22) seems the worst affected at the minute. DD2(12) had a little cry but is now seemingly okay, DS(23) seems to be trying to look after us all, I haven't seen a reaction there yet. I am not sure how to comfort them all, plenty of hugs I think.
Once again, many thanks to you all, I knew I could get some support from you all and it really has helped me.0 -
Hello - what a lovely day! Sun is shining and windows open here.
Morwenna - I hope things are going as well as they can for you. Take care. *cross posted* - I think it's inevitable that the kids are a bit numb at the moment - such a terrible shock for you all. Plenty of hugs and just being there for them is probably best isn't it. I would suggest that they each need to tell at least one close friend as soon as possible as well - particularly the DD who will need things explaining at school before she goes back there.....
sunnyGirl - what good news - your Dad sounds like he's making great strides towards recovery. :j
A batch of twinks are in the oven as I speak - they appear to have all joined up together though - grr! I cooked a big pot of chicken and veg soup in the SC overnight - enough for my lunch today and another three portions too so the extra is going into the freezer. Been out this morning three times - walked to the docs for a repeat prescription appointment (I have the contraceptive patch - Evra - which is marvellous, far easier to manage for a forgetful person like me than the pill and thus far more reliable IYKWIM!) - my BP was apparently "Just fine!" which I was pleased about as it has a habit of going through the roof when I get anywhere near the surgery!) popped the prescription into the chemists and then came home - jumped into the car and went to the farmers market for eggs - free range Mis-shapes at £1.20 a doz - then back for just long enough for OH to clean the kitchen in payment for his lift to the rugby club! Lillibet - you're cooking for a rugby team - I'm taking photos for another this afternoon! They have a cup match which apparently they are going to win.....!
Bethebee welcome home! Your holiday sounds wonderful - so glad you had a good time!

I forgot to mention earlier, I made my "Almost Battenberg" cake the other day, and it was scrumptious - and a lot easier than the original version! It's simply a marbled pink and white sponge cake sandwiched together with jam and buttercream, with buttercream spread over the top as well. The buttercream has grated marzipan added and a dash of lemon juice.
I'm now about to make millionaire's shortbread - DH piped up that he hopes it makes us lucky for the lottery tonight :rotfl:
Icecubequeen - welcome back :jSquares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)0 -
Afternoon all:hello:
Nice and sunny here today so I have my washing blowing on the line.
We've had various leftovers for lunch plus smoked mackerel and the most delicious broccoli I've ever tasted. Seriously good-try it;)
I've got a shoulder of pork roasting away in the oven-not the entire shoulder but pretty big (8 lbs). I've rubbed it with a mixture of crushed dried chillies, fennel seeds, coriander seeds, peppercorns, sea salt and garlic. OMG it smells divine! I'm going to serve it with gravy, mash, carrots and something green plus apple sauce. I think I'll skip the mash to allow for the crackling. If I did roast potatoes I wouldn't be able to resist them;) Ooh, there'll be loads of leftovers:j No pudding though, just fresh fruit.
Worcester Warriors are playing Leicester Tigers today -what do you reckon VickyA?:p0
