Accident in a retail store

I am sure that under the numerous health and safety regulations you will find something to say that sharp ends of rods on shop racks should be protected. It was unfortunate that your child caught her face on it - but it probably could have happened just as easily to an adult bending down.
Did you say anything to the shop assistants or manager of the shop?
Hope she is feeling better soon.
Her grandparents have reported it in the shop but they said the assistant didn't seem that interested. Maybe when the manager sees the accident report they will take notice.0 -
I totally agree with Errata. I'm sure there should be rubber tips on these things. At least youre not being got at for being a money grabbing, compensation seeker. Lots of people would have been jumping up and down shouting compensation, compensation. Good for you for being positive
Hope your toddler is okay but just in case and for future reference i would take a photo and send it with your letter.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Thank you. I can honestly say that I am not trying to obtain compensation because thankfully she has a little lump and a bit of bruising which will be gone in a couple of days. I was more concerned by what the outcome could have been.0

I did a similar thing when I was 4. I hit a glass shelve in woolworths which was either broken, or broke as I hit it, it cut the top of my eyelid open. I still have the scar to show for it. I remember nothing of the incidence at all now, apart from on the trip to the hospital riding in the scary black lift that remained in use in the woolworths until it closed a few months ago.0

I think some of you are being a very harsh, the OP is not after making money, simply trying to prevent the same thing happening to someone else in the future. This is an ultraistic thing to do and is not driven by the desire to make money.
Sometimes people on MSE appear to just want to pass judgement on other poeple...0 -
Oh come on.
The simple facts are that whoever was in charge of the child at he time was not paying attention.
This may have happened to me 30 years ago but the chances are my parents gave me a smack if I had run off or took more care next time instead of posting on a forum.0 -

Your parents would smack you for bending down to look at something in a shop? Seems a little harsh. I can understand you getting a talking to for running off.0 -

What?!!!!?!!!
What the outcome could have been? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
I could have been run over yesterday, I could have been shot when I was in the Police, I could have been electrocuted when I made my coffee earlier...
Worry about what the outcome was, not what it could have been.0 -
The problem is that as soon as most people read a post like this, they automatically think that the OP is out for compensation, which (Quite rightly) annoys the hell out of alot of folk (Me included), but that obviously wasnt the case here. So this post proves that not everyone is motivated by money, but sometimes want to try and stop something similar (Or worse) happening again, and we shouldnt all just jump to the same conclusion. There are still some good people out there...
Sharkbait, Im glad your littl'un wasnt to badly hurt and that your grandparents pointed this out to the staff, as it is quite scary to think what could have happened. I hope she makes a full recovery soon.0 -

Ok you win, I give up! Have better things to do than argue with you all night.0
