Looks like I am not the only one then. I'll make sure I have the book still, then email buyer and apologise and ask if he still wants it. Then go mental with my pre-postage profit of £3.55p!

Don't spend it all at once!

My buyer had been refunded before I even knew I had a sale:(

In a way it was good, cos I looked at my listings and realised I had got rid of most of my books! I thought they timed out after a while, like on Amazon?

I'm just in the process of emptying my atticand trying to be ruthless with the stuff that has been there untouched for years. However having brought down 6 boxes of books (mainly paperback) I'm now toying with the idea of selling them on Amazon.

Having dusted them of a lot of them have a little yellowing but otherwise are in good or very good condition. Is slight yellowing a problem or is it an acceptable byproduct of age?

As long as you accurately describe them there should be no problem

I find that sometimes my stuff sells in patterns I will sell several a day for three or four days, then nothing for 3 or 4 days. I had a good week this week with 17 books sold, but haven't now sold anything at all since yesterday morning.

The other thing i find that is odd is the actual pattern of what sells. I store all mine in crates and some of the crates have been untouched for almost a year where i have sold nothing from them. Yet in the course of less than 24 hours , one day this week I sold 3 books from a crate that hadn't been touched for over a year. How weird is that?

    Hello there,

Do you mind me asking how many books you have for sale , and how many do you list on a daily/weekly basis ? I'm thinking of starting selling books again soon, and read your posts all the time.....thanks

    Hi there

I have a rolling stock of about 1500 items, virtually all books. I sell between 45-65 a month . I list a couple of days a week minimum and will replace and remove 'dead' stock.

I am not a 'good' seller though, I cna't always guage the market well and I often buy books that are worthless (although I think I am getting better). I prefer to buy in bulk and then sift through them and I usually expect to discard about 75% of the books I buy as unsuitable. The books I discard I use for my charitable sideline and do charity stalls where 100% of the proceeds go to the charity hosting me.
