I've just had an email from a buyer, saying they've just purchased an item and asking if can I send it by next day delivery as he needs it tomorrow.

Well for a start I've got no notification of the purchase yet, either by email or in my account, and secondly it will just be standard delivery meaning I have 2 working days to send and can send by 2nd class if I want to, so delivery could take 3-5 working days and that should be perfectly acceptable.

I always send same or next working day and I send by 1st class, if the notification is received by lunchtime then I will post 1st class today but can't guarantee he will receive it tomorrow.

So no doubt if it arrives too late he will want to return for a full refund, leaving me out of pocket by the postage charge plus fees.

Special Delivery will cost me over £3 more than the 1st class cost, so that is not an option as I would have to pay out of my own pocket.

What shall I do/say to him? help

hmm, well i emailed him and said he had only paid for standard delivery and i would post today 1st class if i received confirmation of the order from amazon by lunchtime, also added that he could pay the extra £3 odd by paypal/bank transfer and i would send special delivery.

i've still had no email from amazon, and nothing in my account, not even a pending. i'm wondering if it is a scam to obtain my email address to send a fake SDN email?

ignore the scamming bit, just had SDN email. item was purchased at 10am but email not received until 1:30pm. I've had no reply from the buyer so I don't know what to do.

I suppose if I don't hear from them I will just have to send 1st class today and hope they are received tomorrow. I think I might add recorded to it to confirm delivery.

Hello Butterfly, you can do a partial refund of whatever amount you choose and any associated fees will be credited to your account automatically - you do not have listing fees on Amazon so won't lose out there.

    FFM :)

Thanks. I actually meant the admin/selling fees you get when you sell - not listing fees.

So, from what you've said.. I do the refund for the book but then amazon refund the fees I've paid them back to me. Is that right!?:o

OR.. not the exact figures but:

    book price £20.00
    postage £2.75
so buyer has paid £22.75 but after fees Amazon pay me say £17.00

Then I refund buyer £22.75 and amazon give me the £5.75 fees back?

    Is that right?

    thanks

'Hello, would it be possible to return my recently delivered item to you? I wasn't aware i'd actually ordered it. A return would be greatly appreciated as I don't require the item. Thanks alot. '

    One-click ordering nightmare?! TSFA? :rotfl:
The above is about a PC game, they've had it a couple of days.
The message is polite... am I able to refund minus postage?

Hi Fay, it is frustrating, but strictly speaking you have to refund postage too.

    I spy a loophole!

'Where you are withdrawing from your purchase between 7 and 30 days after delivery (or between 7 and 14 days in the case of items) and there has been no error on the sellers part, the seller is only required to refund the cost of the item. Please note that, with respect to returns initiated during the period between 7 and 30 days after delivery (or between 7 and 14 days in the case of large items), sellers are not required to refund the cost of giftwrapping, delivery or other services provided to you in connection with your purchase.'

I thought they had only had it a couple of days, in which case this applies:

'Where you are withdrawing from your purchase within the first 7 working days after delivery and there has been no error on the seller's part, the seller will refund the cost of the item and the cost of sending the item to you'
