    Hi all,
I decided to start selling some books on amazon so i opened up a seller account last night and listed the books.

All fine until today...i went onto inventory and about 3 of the listings are showing up as a blank title and i cannot get into them to edit them. They have not been sold. So i came across a new sellers help forum and posted a question.

    Now i have two problems...
    1. I cannot find this forum again to check replies.
    2. I still do not know what has happened to the missing listings
Can anyone help? much appreciated. thanks in advance

Hello, its a known glitch going on at the moment and apparently sorts itself out after a while! Amazon site has had a lot of changes recently and things have been a bit creaky on the site including new listings. If its still not sorted next week get in touch with CS via the telephone button under 'help' on your seller account page.

You'll find the forums if you sign into your account and go to your seller account page - on the left hand side you should see 'seller discussions boards' click on that and it'll take you to seller announcements then click through to the boards, the one for new sellers will be there.

    Good luck

I have quite a few Sir Walter Scott Waverley novels that are ancient - no ISBN. How do I list those items please?

Hi, you can search for books via title and author and I bet there will be loads listed - the catalogue is a bit of a mess. Look for one with the same publisher and year and list under that. You can only create new listings if you are a pro-merchant seller but I doubt you'll need to for such a well known author. BTW to help with searching you can sort the list by year of publication which makes a difference if there are loads.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this thread. The posts were very helpful for a newbie like me :)

I've sold my very first book on Amazon, woo hoo! I could have kissed my buyer, and wrapped up the book in pink tissue paper and a great big ribbon, but I restrained myself :D (I did package it very securely, and sent it within an hour of receiving order to beat the Bank Holiday shutdown.) And he left me 5 stars :)

I have a question: for books that come as a series (for example, a trilogy), I have noticed that some sellers put in their comments for a book, "volumes two and three also available. Ask for a quote for the set."

I'd like to be able to do this myself, but am quite puzzled. As far as I can see, Amazon does not give you the option of listing books as a set. How does the buyer/seller negotiate a discount for buying all three volumes in such a case?

Hello Velogal, well done on the sale - watch out its addictive :D.
I've never done the 'get a quote for a set' thing but if I have a number of books from a series I sometimes add just the fact that I have them in stock into the listing. Presumably to negotiate the buyer would have to email the seller and say what they want to buy and come to some agreement. One way to do it would be for the seller to then change their listing price at a set time and for the buyer to be ready to buy at the same time. Trying to take a transaction off Amazon could lead to suspension so it would need to be done carefully as would any mention in the listings. Its also possible to do part refunds for multiple orders but I think there are probs with this as refunds can affect your sales performance and too many can lead to problems. Maybe some other sellers will have different advice?

I suppose for something like this to work, there would have to be a lot of trust between the seller and buyer. I'm too new to orchestrate anything complicated like this for the moment :D Shame really, because the buyer would save on price and postage, and I would be able to let go of a series in one go!

(Like some posters, I seem to have glitches with my account. Some books have mysteriously moved into my "Closed Listings", with quantity showing as 0, yet I haven't received the "Sold, dispatch now" emails... ?_?)

Hope everyone is enjoying a good Bank Holiday weekend :)

That tends to mean those items have gone 'pending' ie someone has tried to buy them but there is a problem usually with their credit card. Don't be tempted to relist the item in case it then sells twice. If the pending converts to a sale you should get an SDN email. The pending system has recently changed - used to be 72 hours was the maximum then the sale cancelled and Amazon relisted again. Now it seems pendings can last a couple of weeks . If they convert they will have the original sale date on them so make sure you let your buyer know why their goods weren't dispatched within the regulation 2 days . To keep an eye on pendings go to your seller account page and 'manage orders'. Click on 'advanced search' and make a 14 day or 30 day search the norm and tick to include 'pending orders' - this will then be your default order search and pendings will appear at the top in grey until they convert when they will go back into the list in date order of sale. Phew hope that makes sense, probably missed something out so ask again if it doesn't make sense and let us know if it works and you can see your pendings :D

OMG, Teapot2, thanks for the priceless advice!
Your instructions were perfectly clear; I just went and made those "pendings" visible on my account, and now I can see there are a couple that were ordered on 29 April, and still pending

There was another book, that had mysteriously moved to the Closed Listings page, but still had the quantity listed as "1" -- so I went and re-listed that one a couple of days ago. But for some reason, now it's listed *twice* in my Open Listings  I think I'll contact Amazon about this one next week, since it's quite valuable...

I struggle with technology, so I tend to think every glitch is *my* fault :D

    Hi everyone:D

Sorry to go on about this matter but as I have had only one sale since since an undeserved neutral took me down to 98% I am going to take courage and contact the buyer as has been suggested. I should have done it sooner and in the meantime I have left a polite comment by way of a response. Does anyone know if I have to remove this before they can theoretically retract their comment. I was going to anyway but notice it said If i do I cannot leave another one. If I manage to persuade the person to retract after what has already been a few weeks I don't want to annoy them further by them not being able to do so. So am thinking about just removing it anyway - At Soolins suggestion I have also offered them a full refund if they aren't happy - is their a time limit for this too as I will have to check I can do this from the date of the original sale.

    Hi Helsbells

I recently had the same problem as you. I'm a small seller selling my own stuff and received an unfair neutral feedback. I contacted the buyer without any response so just left a factual reply to his feedback. I've sold a couple more items since and have had glowing feedback so I wouldn't worry about it too much. I think sales are slow for everyone at the moment.
