Thanks FFM ( took me a while to work that out lol) but do I say Im happy to send anywhere on my listing? or can anyone from any country just buy anyway? :)
    Thanks again

  • Curly, you have to tick which delivery option you will do, UK, Europe and UK or All Countries. You decide, a buyer cannot buy from you if you have not ticked the appropriate option.

I probably have less than 10% of my items available overseas due to the postage rates not covering much. One of the big sellers did a ready reckoner type thing once that showed how much the overseas rate covered and basically for standard like for like cover before you ate into profit the book could be no heavier than 450g, but that has all changed massively now due to postage increases.

All overseas books must go airmail though, so remember that.

Some chap's just ordered a CD from my Amazon shop, with a delivery address in France but Amazon have allowed the standard £1.21 postage. I'm 99% sure I set the item for UK sales only. Has Amazon's updates gone pete tong?

Just like to thank you all for this thread . It's full of helpful advice for a complete newb.

I've just posted my 1st item on Amazon and was suprised at how straight forward it all was. I'm a bit nervous about the whole thing but excited at the same time  :D.

To be honest, i'm not expecting any great results, i posted more out of curiosity more than anything else. Hopefully, some small profit will be made :).

Hope your all successfully coining it in :D. Thanks again for all your advice.

  • Welcome to the thread BB, I still remember selling my first book - couldn't quite believe it was that easy. I was really lucky as the buyer left feedback as soon as she received it - and I've been bitten by the bug ever since.

    Good luck with your sales.

In a word YES - there seems to be all sorts of glitches and wierd stuff going on. So, prob a good idea to use the phone contact button on Seller Help and they'll ring you back - worth checking it out. Is it a genuine SDN ie does the payment show up in your account?

We all know how glitchy Amazon is, i previously had every listing UK only, yet on two separate 24 hours periods in them months, i had european sales coming through, luckily they came through with eurozone postage fees.

Still can't beat my unhappy Playtrade expierence, only sell UK on there and a guy from Gibralter manage to slip through with their UK style addresses, and its euro post cost over there.
    MFW - £79,349 outstanding Nov 2010
    Target - £3000 by Dec 2011
    Current OP - £0/£3000

I had a similair experience when Play first started and managed to successfully dispute this which resulted in me being credited with additional funds. Took a few weeks and a few emails but it is something that Play are aware of, and they should have closed this loophole to stop Gibraltar citizens exploiting this loophole by now. I also believe that the same will apply for any UK dependency, such as the Falklands, etc.

    Hi everyone:D

Sorry to go on about this matter but as I have had only one sale since since an undeserved neutral took me down to 98% I am going to take courage and contact the buyer as has been suggested. I should have done it sooner and in the meantime I have left a polite comment by way of a response. Does anyone know if I have to remove this before they can theoretically retract their comment. I was going to anyway but notice it said If i do I cannot leave another one. If I manage to persuade the person to retract after what has already been a few weeks I don't want to annoy them further by them not being able to do so. So am thinking about just removing it anyway - At Soolins suggestion I have also offered them a full refund if they aren't happy - is their a time limit for this too as I will have to check I can do this from the date of the original sale.
