  • Jesa, sorry it's not really called that. If you go to your account summary page and click on the 'View your customer metrics summary', scroll down to the bottom - you should see some %ges for refunding - perhaps you could let us know if you have affected this by refunding.

Just below that is a summary of the Performance Targets.

    Thanks FFM

    My refund rate states 0%

However the FAQ says the following so it doesn't make any sense to me:

    What is the refund rate?
The refund rate is the number of orders refunded by a merchant divided by the number of orders in the time period of interest. This metric is order-correlated and is represented as a percentage. When computing this metric, we consider all refunds initiated by the merchant for any reason.

  • Perhaps if you clicked that you were refunding postage it treats it differently.

Thanks for letting us know though.

I have another strange one from today actually. I posted a book in Feb and today it came back as uncollected. So I assume postie put a card through the door asking for the person to collect it from the PO but they never did.

I emailed the buyer but no response as yet. If they don't reply I don't think I will refund anything but if they respond I could refund minus the postage costs the book cost to post which was over £6. Is that fair?

  • It would not be strictly in line with Amazon's T&C (whereby you should refund everything if the buyer has 'returned' the book), however, yes it does sound 'fair'.

In this instance if you were to refund it would affect your 'customer metrics'.

Would Amazon take Royal Mail returning the book as "buyer has returned the book"?

Hi, After months of being scared of Amazon and reading peoples experiences on here I have decided to have a go.....one question if I list, I understand the delivery for uk, do Amazon give you a set charge for all countries or more for overseas? and how do youknow what to charge for say the USA? Do you list expecting it to just sell in UK, hopefully someone will be able to do that last little bit of convincing that I need lol? thanks to anyone who can help :)

  • Jesa, Sort of - because you have the book back.

If the buyer says they have not received it Amazon would expect you to refund unless you have proof of delivery.

If the book had been lost in the post you would be able to claim from RM and the buyer would expect a refund.

I don't think there is any scenario where you could justify to Amazon that you should not refund.

You may be able to persuade the buyer to accept a partial refund though.

I suggest you sit it out and wait for the buyer to contact you with what is acceptable to them - not good though if they insist you refund the full amount.

  • Curly, you get different postage amounts for different countries. Norway is great because you get out of Europe allowances but only pay Europe postage.

The easiest way to see what you would get is to list the book right through to the final page before confirming your listing and on that final page your payment is shown. But, do bear in mind the postage costs for posting overseas.

I'll wait and see what happens. I would have expected them to have contacted me within the last 2 months since I posted it so its strange that they haven't. Hopefully I won't hear from them ;)

    Thanks FFM
