No I don't. I am totally exasperated by the complete lack of responsibility that some people show, then they have the nerve to complain that it is all someone else's fault. There's too much of this type of attitude about today, and I assert that it is partly the reason why we're all in such a mess of debt.0 -

No it really isn't difficult, some people just make it difficult for themselves, then blame others.0 -
if you dont like what hsbc do why not just change to barclays, they dont allow payments to be taken they just charge you for insufficient funds, then you can spend your days chasing round making payments manually instead?Mummy to

Do you have any debt Jay3? Have you ever struggled for money because it certainly doesn't sound like it..I think most people would admit that their debts are their responsibility but I also think most people would agree that the problem with banks is they profit from others misfortune (ooh and then have the audacity when they make mistakes to be bailed out by the taxpayer) so tell me, where is their responsibility?0

Yep, like most folks I've a lovely mortgage, which I only took out after having :
(a) saved a good deposit
(b) worked out my monthly budget so I knew I could comfortably afford the payments
(c) worked out how much it would cost if interest rates went up
(d) put some "rainy day" money away so if the worst happened, I wouldn't lose my house
I'm not rich, never have been, but I was brought up to work for, and save for, things before I buy them. If I can't afford them, I don't buy them. And yes, I've also lived on £60 a week, so I know what it is like.
Honestly, what is difficult about that? It's just common sense...
HSBC hasn't been bailed out by the taxpayer by the way.0 -

Banks are responsible for operating a banking service to their customers according to the t's & c's of the account. If they don't, the customer can seek redress.
The customer is responsible for managing their money in such a way that they adhere to those t's & c's. If they don't, the bank can seek redress.0 -

Also this coment is not at all true. I have told my bank time and time again, I dont want them to "lend" me money. And they do, and tell me its "a informall over draft request" and that its "been aproved" So I AM borrowing with there permission, but they are lending with out mine.
So its more like tesco knowing that I am hunrgy and turning up at my door with food, then asking me to pay for the serices. THAT I DID NOT WANT!
So you authorised the d/d or s/o or card payment therefore asking for lending which the bank approved so it is with your permission. If you didn't want to pay for something then why agree to d/d or s/o or card payment??0 -

Would you prefer that you got charged for every single transaction as they do in America?? You get free banking and in return the banks ask you keep your account within agreed limits and if you don't then there is a charge.0
