Hi all, nice to see you Bails.
Glad the move is going well Vix - the flat sounds lovely.
Well, today I stayed home, as we'll be up at the house moving the last bits this w/end. The electricians had their really big, mahoosive, noisier than two noisy things in a noisy pod drill back out, and decided to spend the 3rd day solidly drilling in the wall adjoining our house. Arrrrrrgh! it is so loud, it makes my brain hurt! I had set myself the task of writing letters, emailing, phoning all the people I need to inform of my move. The phone calls had to be kept to a minimum, obviously. I couldn't watch TV because the drilling noise just drowned any noise from it out. The moved to another part of the house for a short while, so the drilling wasn't as intense, but by late morning they were back again. The BF rang me to say his work have asked him to get his van back to the yard as he's off for 3 days next week - the depot is 90 miles away! How does he get back home again? Apparently that's not their problem. When he told me I just got so angry, partly with him for accepting it was his problem, but mainly with them for being such @rses! Grrrr! Plus, we wanted to use the van next week for the final move. So between BF's work & the flaming electricians, I've been rather tense, and feel as taught as a piano wire..... and breathe!
I got all the letters/emails/phone calls done, except to Tax Credits, who are apparently so busy they can't answer my call - harrumph! I've rejiggled the kitchen cupboards to try to accommodate my dishes. Too much stuff, too few cupboards. It was in amongst all the kitchen chaos, admin hell, drilling cacophany and cooking dinner that I felt myself 'needing' the support of food. Scary territory, and I knew it was happening too. By damage limitation I had something to nibble, but was angry with myself that it was still lurking there within me.
So, food today:
B - porridge
snack - snack a jacks
L - chicken salad
D - wholewheat pasta, & chicken in tomato sauce
snacks/stress food! - 3 slices nimble (43cals each) handful of tortilla chips
I had a very small dinner portion because I'd had the bread & tortillas, so think I'll have balanced that out in the end.
Going to chill out and have a shower in a while. Hope you guys all had a much quieter day than me!One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing
Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home0 -
Vix~glad the move is going ok

Peeps, this might be a really silly question but could an adult (me) choose something from a child's menu in a sit-down restaurant as a way of getting a smaller portion?
Or is this just not done? I'm slightly horrified at the calorie counts of the adult meals I'm looking at, but the child's ones are nowhere near as bad and I'm sure it would be enough for me
(You can probably tell I don't eat out very often).

Missy, I don't see why not. We often share puddings when we are out and restaurants/pubs don't seem to mind bringing an extra spoon when we say we are going to share.
It would be a good idea to ask when booking just to be sure. Some child's menus do say up to the age of 10, 12 etc My DS often doesn't like the choices on the adults menus and he is often allowed to choose from the children's menu even though he is 14 (although smallish in size).

Thanks FFM - after further investigation on the website I've seen it is for under 10's so never mind! It was just a thought
I'll just be as sensible as I can and hopefully walking or cycling there & back will help a bit

I find "pub lunches" pile your plate so starter & dessert is never needed. The pub we normally went to, just got taken over by someone else and the food is horrid now, I once got a half chicken and it was SO dry it was unedible, and OH got the tikka masala and it was a micro curry! For £9 we expect more than an asda boil in the bag curry! For a "pub" It's quite posh (well now it is)
I just done my Asda shop online, £75  though that should last us a while! I never really buy meat from there as Lidl is cheaper but they had a few offers on so thought what the hey.
OH's OT has been cut completely at work now, which isn't so great but at least he still has a job. So we are having to reign the spending in, which I must admit is bad, we are never skint but a lot of money just goes to waste.
So OH has got £150 to buy his Rockness festival ticket, I've paid up all the bills (a first lol) for the rest of the month until he gets paid, budgeted £250 for food and household goods for the month (baby steps hehe) and that leaves us with about £300 for "Luxuary" like my smoking - which I'm about to try and quit. Going to go to the chemist on Monday and get a stop smoking pack and hopefully it works! Tired of smelling fushty.
So hopefully we can manage on the budget, it's funny, we felt like we had more money when OH was earning a pittance at the council. Mad.0
