I've just had my first order delivered and I have to say I was absolutely delighted.Everything I ordered was in stock, save some hot chocolate but this was substitued with two pots of a different variety for the price of the one I had ordered. Every well packed and we now have LOT AND LOTS of lunchbox and snack foods. Everyone got quiet excited going through the boxes (very sad I know!). So pleased have just booked our second order. The Polish chocs are just yummy ..... Thanks Approved Foods, I am glad i have found you0

I am still undecided about making a trip to approved foods next month! I was 100% certain I would go a few days ago, but keep talking myself out of it, just don't know if I can justify the extra miles and the money spent on an over night stop.
I have tried to ring approved foods to speak to Dan as I would really like reassurance that the warehouse will be open and what kind of things I might expect to find on sale, but haven't been able to speak with him.
I need some persuasion! Help!

to be honest, I wouldnt bother, I live a few miles away from AF, the drive from here to cornwall is about six hours, and from here to manchester is another two or three, over the pennines on crap roads.
I have been to AF once, and it was ok, but I could not find much of what I wanted, nothing has a price label on, so you have to keep asking them for the price on every item, which was embarrasing as they were trying to serve people, and because the prices aren't on anything you cant really spot the bargains.
I was hoping to stock up, but I struggled to find much that we would eat, and that was in date, and probably spent about a tenner in the end.
I would go again, but only if I was passing, I wouldnt even make a special journey from here. You can see more of their stock (with prices!!!) on the website than you can in the little industrial unit, where most stuff is out of reach or in boxes anyway.0 -
just had a dispatch email for my order from the 6th of march.0

I got my latest AF delivery yesterday. It all went very smoothly - I had put the order in maybe a week and a half earlier, got an email on Wednesday telling me the items were on their way and everything arrived in the morning. The goods were well packed and nothing was broken or crushed.
Here is a rundown of the new items: (1) Bertolli sea salt and black pepper baked bites, which are lovely. They are a bit like pitta chips, but a bit spicier and saltier. (2) De Kroes Green Olives and Italian Cheese Savoury Crackers. Again, very nice. They are the kind of thing you could put out with drinks rather than just eat on their own. (3) Two types of tomato couscous. I take these packets into the office and keep them in my desk for a quick lunch - just add boiling water, let sit for a few minutes and microwave. I think that the next time I do this, I will bring in some chick peas and carrots to give lunch a bit more texture and colour. But for 60p a package, you can't go wrong! (4) Toblerone fruit and nut bar. Yum. (5) Lindt 70% chocolate - very nice - I'm keeping it to have with some red wine over the weekend. (6) Strawberry and cream sweets sugar-free sweets. I haven't tried these yet, but they look interesting - they come in a paper box a bit like some types of breath mints. I'll stick them in my handbag for the next time I have a long meeting and need a pick-me-up.
This is my third delivery from AF and I have been very pleased every time with the delivery, packing and quality of goods. Keep up the good work, Dan and co!0 -

I've been lurking for a while and keep looking at approved foods but am undecided. I was wondering if you could tell me if you can taste any difference in foods that are out of the best before date? I know you can eat foods after this and it's the use by date you need to look for. My other half is VERY fussy and if he noticed an old date wouldn't eat it, I on the other hand.....
any advice gratefully received, especailly on things you've tried.
thanks0 -
Depends on how long after the date TBH, I have had 6 orders from Af with N07 just placed if you dont look at the date you won`t know, so don`t tell him:D !
IMHO it tastes the same and when you see how much more you get for your money and tastes a heluva lot better but that`s just me:D .
If you order be prepared to wait 7-14 days for delivery and beware that Dan and his staff are very customer friendly!
And no I don`t work for AF :rotfl: :rotfl: I`ve had some probs which they have sorted out as soon as you tell them:D!
They ain`t perfect(yet) but well worth it:D0 -

If you really feel that one or two of the things don't taste as good as they should, you won't have lost much- but there is a lot to gain if you like it. I have been most surprised by the biscuits and cakes.I guess they have a much longer shelf life and many more preservatives in them than I ever knew.0
